Visitor information
Admission
Individual admission is JPY 1,600 for adults and high school students, or JPY 550 for primary and junior high school students. These rates apply to parties of 1–34. The combined museum ticket is a separate option.
Opening hours
Toshogu opens from 9 am to 5 pm from 1 April to 31 October and from 9 am to 4 pm from 1 November to 31 March. Admission closes 30 minutes before closing time.
What to see at Nikko Toshogu
Yomeimon Gate and animal carvings
Look for Yomeimon Gate's elaborate decoration and the Three Wise Monkeys and Sleeping Cat carvings in the grounds. Alongside the buildings, take time to notice the smaller carvings.

How to get to Nikko Toshogu
Take a Tobu bus from JR Nikko or Tobu-Nikko Station and get off at Nishisando-iriguchi. Follow signs for the main approach to Toshogu's entrance. The operator's diversion map gives a walk of about 10 minutes from the stop, excluding admission queues.

The grounds include stairs
Walk from the bus stop to the entrance, then climb stairs during your visit. If arriving late in the afternoon, allow for the approach walk and seasonal admission deadline. Check official information for temporary closures and events on your visit date.

Can I enter Toshogu with a Rinnoji ticket?
No. Toshogu and Rinnoji have separate tickets. At Toshogu, shrine admission and the ticket combining shrine and museum entry are also different options, so choose for the facilities you want to see.
