Admission
Individual admission for parties of 1–34: adults and high school students ¥1,600; elementary and junior high school students ¥550. The museum combination ticket is a different ticket type.
Opening hours
Toshogu is open 9 a.m.–5 p.m. April 1–October 31; 9 a.m.–4 p.m. November 1–March 31. Admission ends 30 minutes before closing.

Look at Yomeimon’s elaborate decoration and seek out the Three Wise Monkeys and Sleeping Cat carvings around the grounds. Alongside the buildings, take time for the smaller carvings.
How to get to Nikko Toshogu Shrine · 日光東照宮
From JR Nikko or Tobu-Nikko, take a Tobu bus to Nishisando Iriguchi. Follow Omotesando directions to Toshogu’s entrance. The operator’s detour map lists about a 10-minute walk from the stop, plus admission waiting time.

Allow for stairs in the grounds
Walk from the bus stop to the entrance, then climb stairs during the visit. For a late-afternoon arrival, account for the entrance walk and seasonal admission cutoff. Check the official information for temporary closures and events on your date.
