Admission
For individual visitors in parties of 1–34, admission costs JPY 1,600 for adults and senior high school pupils, or JPY 550 for primary and junior high school pupils. Museum combination admission is a different ticket.
Opening hours and closed days
1 April–31 October: 09:00–17:00; 1 November–31 March: 09:00–16:00. Admission ends 30 minutes before closing.
What can I see at Nikko Toshogu?
Yomeimon and animal carvings
Look for Yomeimon’s ornate decoration, then the Three Wise Monkeys and Sleeping Cat in the grounds. Alongside the buildings, take time to examine the smaller carvings.
How to get to Nikko Toshogu
Take a Tobu bus from JR Nikko or Tobu-nikko to Nishisando Iriguchi. Follow Omotesando signs to Toshogu’s entrance. The operator’s diversion map gives about ten minutes from the stop, excluding ticket queues.
Before you visit
Stairs within the grounds
Walk from the bus stop to the entrance and climb stairs during the visit. If arriving late in the afternoon, allow time for the entrance walk before the seasonal admission deadline. Check official notices for your travel date for temporary closures and events.

Can I enter Toshogu with a Rinnoji ticket?
No. Toshogu and Rinnoji require separate tickets. Toshogu’s shrine-only and museum combination tickets also differ; choose one for the facilities you want to visit.
