Admission
From April 2026, individual admission is JPY 1,000 for adults and JPY 400 for primary and junior high school students. Preschool children are free. Payment is cash only.
Opening hours
The museum opens from 9 am to 5 pm from April to November, with last admission at 4.30 pm. From December to March, it opens from 9.30 am to 4.30 pm, with last admission at 4 pm.

The museum's main sight is its large underground quarry. Descend the stairs and explore the space left by stone extraction to appreciate its scale.
How to get to Oya History Museum
Take a bus for Oya and Tateiwa from stop 6 outside JR Utsunomiya Station's west exit. After about 30 minutes, get off at Shiryokan-iriguchi, then walk about five minutes to the museum. Return on a Utsunomiya Station-bound bus from the station-bound Shiryokan-iriguchi stop.

Before you visit
Stairs and mobility assistance
Wheelchairs, prams and walking frames cannot be used for standard museum entry. Paid golf cart assistance requires an advance booking on an available weekday; same-day requests are not accepted. Holiday periods and group visits may limit availability, so contact the museum.
Winter Tuesday and year-end closures
The museum is closed on Tuesdays from December to March, or the following day if Tuesday is a public holiday. It is also closed from 26 December to 3 January. Temporary closures or operating changes are possible.
