What to see at Ueno Zoo
Animal viewing in the east and west areas
Displays are divided between the east and west areas. Start with the animals you most want to see. Allow time to move between areas and rest if visiting both.
How to get to Ueno Zoo
Use JR Ueno station’s Park Exit. Walk about five minutes to the zoo’s main entrance.
Before you visit
Last admission is 16:00
The zoo closes at 17:00, but ticket sales and entry end at 16:00. Arrive with time to explore rather than just before last admission.
Monday and New Year closures
The zoo normally closes on Mondays, or the following day if Monday is a public or substitute holiday. It also closes from 29 December to 1 January. Some Mondays have opening exceptions, so check the calendar for your date.
