Standard admission costs JPY 600, or JPY 300 for visitors aged 65 and above and JPY 200 for junior high school pupils. Children through primary school year 6 enter free. Junior high school pupils living or studying in Tokyo also enter free with proof. The senior fare requires age verification.
Opening hours and closed days
The zoo opens from 09:30 to 17:00, with ticket sales and admission until 16:00. It usually closes on Mondays and 29 December–1 January. Check the date’s calendar for public-holiday and Monday opening exceptions.

How to get to Ueno Zoo
Leave JR Ueno through the Park Exit. Walk about 5 minutes to the zoo’s main gate.
Before you visit
Last admission is 16:00
The zoo closes at 17:00, but ticket sales and admission end at 16:00. Arrive with time to see several displays rather than just before last admission.
Monday and New Year closures
The zoo usually closes on Mondays, or the following day if Monday is a public or substitute holiday. It also closes on 29 December–1 January. Some Mondays have calendar exceptions; check your date.
