Would you prefer Senso-ji and the zoo, or a garden and shrine?

For a temple and zoo visit, stay in Ueno and give Senso-ji and Ueno Zoo a day each. For a garden and shrine, choose Shinjuku with Shinjuku Gyoen and Meiji Jingu on separate days. These routes need time for sightseeing from the first afternoon and enough time for the airport after the final-day visit.

Senso-ji and Ueno Zoo

Choose this route only if the zoo is open on day 2 and you have time afterwards for airport travel. Check official opening information for Mondays, New Year and days after public holidays.
