View the dunes and sea together. For a shorter sandy walk, stay near the entrance. Allow more time on the sand if crossing to the ridge.

How to get to Tottori Sand Dunes

From stand 0 at Tottori Station's north bus terminal, take route 39 Sakyu Line to Sakyu Kaikan (砂丘会館(鳥取砂丘)). Walk a few minutes to the dunes. The adult fare is JPY 380 one way; allow extra time walking on the sand. If you are also visiting the museum, return towards Tottori from Suna-no-Bijutsukan-mae.

Before you visit

Midday heat and strong wind

The dunes are outdoors with little shade. Carry water and shorten walks if heat or wind makes walking difficult. Follow site guidance after dark or in strong wind.

Combine a dunes walk with the museum's sculptures. The museum is paid and closes during exhibition changes. Allow walking between sites and museum time separately, and check the Tottori-bound return bus from Suna-no-Bijutsukan-mae.
