How to get to Tottori Sand Dunes

Take dunes-line route 39 from stand 0 at Tottori Station’s north terminal to Sakyu Kaikan (砂丘会館(鳥取砂丘)). The dunes are a few minutes on foot away. Adults JPY 380 one way. Allow extra time for walking the hills. After a museum visit, return on a Tottori Station-bound bus from Suna-no-Bijutsukan-mae.

Before you visit

Midday heat and strong winds

This outdoor area has little shade. Bring water and shorten walks if heat or wind makes walking difficult. Follow local guidance after dark or in strong winds.

See sand sculptures after your dunes walk. The museum charges admission and closes between exhibitions. Allow separate walking and exhibition time, and check a returning Tottori Station-bound bus from Suna-no-Bijutsukan-mae.
