Admission
No separate admission fee is listed for village walks. Vehicles pay a conservation contribution: JPY 1,000 for ordinary or kei cars, JPY 300 for motorcycles, JPY 3,000 for medium buses and JPY 5,000 for large buses. The ordinary/kei car rate applies from 1 October 2025. This differs from individual admission for bus visitors. Bus fares, indoor exhibitions and meals cost extra.
Opening hours
Village visiting hours are 8 am–5 pm from April to November and 9 am–5 pm from December to March. Enter the car park by 4 pm. The village is closed on 31 December and 1 January. Check individual exhibition and restaurant hours separately.

How to get to Suganuma Gassho-zukuri Village, Gokayama
Take the World Heritage Bus from stand 7 outside Takaoka Station and get off at Suganuma. The tourism body gives about one minute on foot from the stop to the village. Return from the Takaoka-bound stop. Use the official area map for the village access path and return boarding point, and check travel-date services and unreserved-seat conditions. Ask the village if you need a route without stairs.

Return World Heritage Buses use the Takaoka-bound stop. Find it on the official area map. If staying in Toyama, check onward rail times from Takaoka. Ask the village if you need a route without stairs.

Using the Gokayama pass
The adult Gokayama pass costs JPY 2,800 and lasts two days from first use. It covers World Heritage Bus travel between Takaoka Station or Shin-Takaoka Station and Sasara-kan-mae, excluding Toyama–Takaoka trains, accommodation, indoor exhibitions and meals. It cannot be combined with a reserved-seat ticket and does not guarantee a seat.
