Admission

No separate village walking admission fee is listed. Vehicles pay conservation contributions: ordinary and kei cars JPY 1,000, motorcycles JPY 300, medium buses JPY 3,000 and large buses JPY 5,000. Car and kei-car rates apply from 1 October 2025. These differ from individual bus passenger admission; bus fares, indoor exhibits and meals cost extra.

Village visiting hours are 08:00–17:00 April–November and 09:00–17:00 December–March. Enter the car park by 16:00. Closed 31 December and 1 January. Check individual exhibition and restaurant hours separately.

How to get to Gokayama Suganuma gassho-style village

From stand 7 in front of Takaoka Station, take the World Heritage Bus to Suganuma. The tourism body lists about one minute on foot from the stop to the village. Return from the Takaoka-bound stop. Check approach and return boarding locations on the official area map, plus travel-date services and non-reserved-seat conditions. Ask the village if you need a route without stairs.

If using the Gokayama pass

The adult Gokayama pass costs JPY 2,800 and lasts two days from first use. It covers World Heritage Bus between Takaoka Station front or Shin-Takaoka and Sasara-kan-mae, excluding Toyama–Takaoka trains, hotels, indoor exhibits and meals. It cannot be combined with reserved-seat tickets and does not guarantee a seat.
