Ordinary admission costs JPY 600 for adults, JPY 500 for senior high-school and university students, and JPY 200 for primary and junior high-school students. On Saturdays, primary, junior and senior high-school students living in Kaminoyama or attending local schools receive free admission.

Kaminoyama Castle opens from 09:00 to 17:15, with last admission at 16:45. Kaminoyama Castle is closed on Thursdays, or the preceding weekday if Thursday is a public holiday, and from 29 to 31 December. Temporary seasonal Thursday openings may occur; check your date’s notices.

How to get to Kaminoyama Castle
Take the JR Ou Main Line from Yamagata to Kaminoyama-Onsen. Follow the facility map’s route for an approximately seven-minute castle walk. Retrace it after visiting and return towards Yamagata by train. Ordinary adult paper tickets cost JPY 260 each way or JPY 520 return; limited-express and Shinkansen travel costs extra. Search outbound and return times and fares for your actual date.
