Ordinary admission costs JPY 600 for adults, JPY 500 for high school and university students and JPY 200 for primary and junior high school pupils. Saturdays are free for primary, junior high and high school pupils who live in Kaminoyama or attend its schools.

The castle opens from 09:00 to 17:15, with admission until 16:45. It closes on Thursdays, or the preceding weekday when Thursday is a public holiday, and on 29–31 December. Seasonal temporary Thursday opening may apply; check notices for your date.

How to get to Kaminoyama Castle
Take the JR Ou Main Line from Yamagata to Kaminoyama Onsen. Follow the facility map for a roughly seven-minute castle walk. Retrace the same route afterwards and return on a Yamagata-bound train. Ordinary adult paper tickets cost JPY 260 one way, or JPY 520 return. Limited-express and Shinkansen travel cost extra. Search services in both directions and fares for your actual date.
