Shizuoka in five days: how should you split the nights between two cities?

For Kinomiya Shrine, choose one night in Shizuoka and three in Atami. For an additional visit to Shizuoka City Museum of Art, choose two nights in each city. Both itineraries visit Nihondaira, Kunozan Toshogu Shrine, Kiunkaku, MOA and the Atami coast. Check exhibitions and closure dates, then match the Kodama arrival on your hotel-change day with Kiunkaku’s admission deadline.

Kunozan Toshogu and Atami architecture, art, shrine and coast

Stay one night in Shizuoka and three in Atami for Nihondaira, Toshogu, Kiunkaku, MOA, Kinomiya and coastal walks. On the transfer day, allow time to walk from Atami Station after your Kodama arrives and reach Kiunkaku before last admission.

Day 1: Shizuoka Station → Nihondaira and Kunozan Toshogu → hotel

Start from Shizuoka Station in the morning to visit Nihondaira and Toshogu on day one. For a late-afternoon arrival, omit the shrine return or move it to another sightseeing day.

  1. Shizuoka Station-front stop → Nihondaira Ropeway bus terminus

Choose a bus reaching Nihondaira Ropeway terminus. Check outbound and return services to and from Shizuoka in your date's weekday timetable or the timetable for weekends and public holidays. Allow ropeway, shrine and viewpoint time after summit arrival.
