Admission
Gifu Park is free. Mount Kinka Ropeway adult fare, for ages 12 and over/junior high school students and older, is JPY 1,300 return or JPY 800 one way. Child fare, for ages four to under 12, is JPY 650 return or JPY 400 one way. Admission previously charged at the now-closed Gifu Castle is excluded.
Opening hours
The first uphill ropeway ride is at 09:00. Listed weekday last rides are 17:30 uphill and 18:00 downhill; weekend last rides are 20:00 uphill and 20:30 downhill. Seasonal and evening operations may change these times, so check the timetable for your date.

How to get to Gifu Park and Mount Kinka Ropeway
From bays 12 or 13 at JR Gifu Station, take a bus via Nagarabashi that stops at Gifu Park/Gifu Castle. Options include N43; use your date's timetable and stop signs to choose. Walk about three minutes from that stop to the park. The Mount Kinka Ropeway ride takes about four minutes, plus waiting time. Return on a bus towards JR Gifu Station from the park stop.

Visiting tips
There is still walking after the ropeway
There are slopes and stairs at the top. You still need to walk after leaving the ropeway, so bring comfortable walking shoes.
Gifu Castle keep and museum closures
As checked on 8 October 2026, the keep has been closed since 19 May 2026 and the museum since 1 April. The keep's closure is listed through around 31 October 2027, with Gifu City planning a November 2027 reopening. If you want to see inside the castle, check reopening notices. Ropeway and viewpoint operations are separate.

Ropeway maintenance closures
Maintenance closures are scheduled for 1–28 December 2026 and 7 January–16 February 2027. Recheck your visit date if planning to use the ropeway during these periods.

Can I enter Gifu Castle's keep?
As checked on 8 October 2026, the keep and museum are closed, with Gifu City planning a November 2027 reopening. A planned reopening is not a confirmed opening date, so recheck notices before visiting. Ropeway and viewpoint operations are separate.
