Admission
Entry to the shrine grounds and main sanctuary worship is free. On-site museums and nearby facilities have separate admission fees.
Opening hours
Open for worship year-round. Opening time is 06:00 from the spring equinox and 06:30 from the autumn equinox. Closing is 18:30 in December–March, 19:30 in June–August and 19:00 in April–May and September–November. The on-site museum opens 09:00–16:30, with last admission at 16:00.

The shrine approach and grounds
Browse shops along the approach as you walk from Dazaifu Station to the shrine. Once there, visit the sanctuary and explore the grounds with their large trees. Leave more time if you also want a meal and shopping.

How to get to Dazaifu Tenmangu
From Hakata, take the subway to Tenjin and walk to Nishitetsu Fukuoka (Tenjin) Station. Check whether your train to Dazaifu is direct or needs a transfer at Futsukaichi before boarding. Get off at Dazaifu Station and follow the shrine approach on foot.

Set aside at least half a day for the return journey
Dazaifu Tenmangu is in Dazaifu City, outside Fukuoka City. Set aside at least half a day for return train travel and a walk along the shrine approach. Check trains and transfers in the timetable for your date.

Plan museum visits separately from worship
Last admission to the on-site museum is 16:00. If you want to see it, allow time for both worship and the museum. Check date-specific official notices for temporary opening or closing hours and events.

Yes. A connecting tunnel leads from the shrine approach to Kyushu National Museum. Leave time to visit the museum after the shrine. Admission and hours are separate; check closures and conditions for your chosen exhibition on your date.
