Gorge walks and sightseeing are free. Rental boats and parking cost extra. Boat pricing is for one boat for 30 minutes and varies by date; check your visit-date amount in the official calendar. Exceeding 30 minutes costs ¥1,000 for each additional ten minutes.
Opening hours
Boats usually operate 08:30–17:00, with last reception at 16:30. Long waits may end reception early. No single opening schedule is separately listed for the gorge paths; check path opening and boat operation individually.

How to get to Takachiho Gorge
Official tourism guidance gives approximately two hours fifteen minutes by car from Miyazaki city/airport to the gorge. By public transport, take a bus from Nobeoka Station to Takachiho Bus Center, approximately 90 minutes. The gorge is another approximately eight minutes by car from the bus centre; arrange transport there and back separately.
Visiting tips
Finish parking and reception before your reservation
Boat reception is inside car park 1, Oshioi. There is no dedicated parking or parking reservation; a boat booking does not secure a space. Arrive with time for parking waits, reception and walks to reception and boarding.
Check boat operation and path opening separately
Boats may close or end reception early because of inspections, weather, water levels or booking conditions. Check inspection closures in the official calendar. Open walking sections may also vary with weather, water levels and construction; follow visit-date guidance.

When can I reserve a Takachiho Gorge boat?
Online reservations run from 09:00 fourteen days before use to 09:00 two days before, with advance credit-card payment. Phone/email reservations and cancellation waiting lists are unavailable. Does a boat suspension also close the walking paths?
