Admission
Collection admission is JPY 350 for adults, effective July 1, 2026. Groups of 20 or more pay JPY 280 per person. Special exhibition fees vary. Eligible elementary, junior high and high school students, among others, have free admission to both collection and special exhibitions. Visitors aged 70 or older and students at university level or below have free collection admission.
Opening hours
The museum opens 09:30–18:00, with last admission at 17:30. It closes on Wednesdays, except public holiday Wednesdays, when it opens and closes on the next weekday instead. It also closes over New Year. The rooftop opens 08:00–22:00, with last admission at 21:30, and closes from December 1 to March 15. Check the calendar and notices for temporary closures due to maintenance, exhibition changes or weather.

Head up to the rooftop after visiting the galleries. Gallery and rooftop hours differ, so check whether the rooftop will still be open when you finish the exhibitions.
How to get to Toyama Prefectural Museum of Art and Design
Leave Toyama Station by the north exit and walk about 15 minutes to the museum. For the bus, use north-side bay 1 for a service via Toyama Red Cross Hospital and the prefectural museum, then get off at the museum stop for direct access. Check the official access information for fares, services on your travel date and a step-free entrance.

Collection and special exhibition fees differ. Choose the exhibition you want to see, then check the calendar to confirm the museum is open on your date.
Allow extra time for the park walk
You can walk through Kansui Park on the way to the museum. The roughly 15-minute walk from the station to the museum does not include time spent walking around or resting in the park, so allow extra time.
