From the south exit, walk towards the prefectural office to Saga Castle History Museum. The official walk is about 25 minutes; allow one to two hours for the exhibitions and building.
- History museum → Castle grounds and Saga hotel
The museum closes at 18:00 and also has temporary closures. After the exhibitions, walk around the castle, have dinner on the way back towards Saga Station and rest at the same hotel. Admission is free, with optional donations. Donations are excluded from the route cost.
Check December 29–January 1 closures and temporary closure dates. Distinguish a day viewing only the castle exterior from a visit to the indoor exhibitions.
Day 2 · Yoshinogari → Saga hotel
Spend time at Yoshinogari and have lunch, then return to Saga Station. Focus on the eastern ruins area in this large park.

From Saga Station, take a local train towards Tosu and get off at Yoshinogari-Koen. Choose a direct service and a return towards Saga together in the official JR search. The adult one-way fare is JPY 340; the JPY 680 return is included in the cost card.

- Yoshinogari-Koen Station → East entrance → ruins visit
The official walk to the east entrance takes about 15 minutes. Allow time from morning into afternoon for the ruins and lunch, adjusting the area covered to your walking pace. Adult admission is JPY 460. Park hours are 09:00–17:00 in April–May and September–March, or 09:00–18:00 in June–August. See the attraction guide for closure dates.

Leave by the east entrance in time for your return train and retrace the route to Yoshinogari-Koen Station. Add time for crossings, ticket gates and boarding preparations to the official 15-minute walk.
- Yoshinogari-Koen Station → Saga Station
Take a local train towards Kohoku that stops at Saga and get off at Saga Station. The one-way fare is JPY 340. Check service and platforms for your visit date using official JR searches and station signs.

Allow the return walk between station and east entrance separately from sightseeing time. Check temporary park closures and the day's trains, then leave the park in time for your return service.
Day 3 · Motoyu bathing and departure
Bathe and have lunch in Takeo Onsen, then return to Saga Station.

Take a limited express Midori that stops at Takeo-Onsen and get off there. Choose a service without a change at Kohoku. The adult unreserved one-way fare is JPY 660 base fare + JPY 750 limited express charge = JPY 1,410. Check the day's service and seating arrangements.

- Takeo-Onsen Station north exit → Hot spring streets and Motoyu entrance
Walk from the north exit towards the hot spring streets and Romon Gate to find Motoyu's entrance. The tourism association gives about 10 minutes to the streets and about 15 minutes to the gate; the prefectural tourism body gives about 10 minutes to Motoyu. Allow extra time to find the entrance and register. The address is 7425 Takeo, Takeo-cho.

Allow around an hour for bathing and resting. Adult bathing costs JPY 500; hours are 06:30–23:45, with last reception at 23:00. Check official restrictions, including tattoos and intoxication. Private baths, towels and the Romon Gate upper-floor visit are separate.
- Motoyu and the hot spring streets → Lunch and a walk → Takeo-Onsen Station
After bathing, have lunch and rest in the hot spring streets. Retrace your route to Takeo-Onsen Station in time for your return train, allowing extra time for directions, crossings and ticket gates.

Take a Hakata-bound limited express Midori that stops at Saga and get off at Saga Station. The adult unreserved one-way fare is JPY 1,410. Check service, seating and platforms for the visit date.

Check Motoyu's entry restrictions and reception deadline. Allow walking to the streets and Romon Gate separately from bathing time, then return to the station for your chosen train.

Walk about 12 minutes from Arita Station, as officially advised, to the Kyushu Ceramic Museum's permanent exhibitions. After visiting, have lunch towards the station. Hours are 09:00–17:00, with last admission at 16:30. It closes Mondays, or the next weekday if Monday is a public holiday. Permanent exhibitions are free; special exhibitions and shopping are separate.

The official walk from the north exit to Romon Gate is about 15 minutes. Find the gate, then continue to Motoyu's entrance. Its official English and Japanese names are Takeo Onsen Romon Gate · 武雄温泉楼門. Train arrival times exclude getting out of the station, walking from the gate to reception and waiting. This afternoon bathing plan excludes the morning-only upper-floor gate tour.

What should I do if the Arita museum is closed?
It closes Mondays, or the next weekday if Monday is a public holiday, and December 29–January 3. Swap with another day or skip the exhibitions. If dates change, choose the Arita, Takeo and Saga trains again.
