Centrair Airport to Nagoya, Sakae and Kanayama

From Terminal 1 and 2 to Chubu International Airport Station
Central Japan International Airport Station · 中部国際空港駅 is at Access Plaza · アクセスプラザ. Terminal 1 · 第1ターミナル and Terminal 2 · 第2ターミナル have separate arrivals halls and different routes to the station.
Terminal 1: 2nd floor arrival hall → Access Plaza
- After entering the country and picking up your baggage, go to the arrival hall on the 2nd floor.
- Follow the Railway/Access Plaza signs to the connecting passage. The airport provides access to the station without stairs.
- Select your destination and vehicle at the Meitetsu vending machine/window, then enter the ticket gate.
Terminal 1 connects to the same level, but no official fixed walking times are given. Allow time for the walk from arrivals, ticketing and queues.
Official Terminal 1 floor and arrival information ↗Terminal 2: 1st floor arrival hall → P1 connecting passage → Station
- After coming out of the arrival hall on the 1st floor, look for the ‘Railway / 中部国際空港駅’ sign.
- The route to the P1 parking lot passageway in the official station access information is approximately 7 minutes. Follow the on-site signs to the connecting passage.
- Buy a Meitetsu ticket at Access Plaza and enter the ticket gate.
The separate inter-terminal walking guide describes an approximately 10-minute route: use a ramp or lift to the second floor, pass Flight of Dreams · フライト・オブ・ドリームズ, then use the moving walkway. This differs from the station-access route via P1. Please add suitcase/elevator waiting times to the official walking time.
If walking with luggage is difficult, compare the free terminal shuttle, listed at roughly 15-minute intervals. Check its current hours and stop. The Sakae bus leaves Terminal 1 stop 6, so reach that stop first.

When buying a ticket at the station: Regular fare and special car ticket are separate.
μSKY · ミュースカイ consists entirely of reserved-seat special cars. Airport directions usually indicate platform 1. For other limited express and express trains, numbers 2 and 3 are usually given, but please give priority to the electronic display board on the day.
Some limited-express services combine special and ordinary cars; others have only ordinary cars. Check the car type as well as the train name before boarding.
Ordinary cars require the basic fare, paid by ticket or a supported transport IC card such as manaca, Suica or ICOCA. A special car also requires a μticket. An online μticket covers only the special-car charge; pay the basic fare separately.
Reservations open one month before travel and depend on seat availability. Please distinguish the online time slot discount that meets the conditions from the regular 450 yen.

Meitetsu Nagoya: choose the exit for your hotel
Meitetsu Nagoya Station · 名鉄名古屋駅 is south of JR Nagoya Station · 名古屋駅 and the subway station. Even if the station names are similar, the ticket gates and platforms are not the same.
- Arrival → Central International Airport Station: Go to the T1/T2 route above.
- Ticket/transport IC card → Meitetsu train stopping in Nagoya: Select μSKY or a ordinary car and check the destination and stopping station on the electronic display. Even if your final destination is towards Gifu or Inuyama, you can use it as long as it stops at Nagoya.
- Get off at Meitetsu Nagoya → Outside the Meitetsu ticket gate: Follow the JR, Shinkansen, and subway signs to the next transportation facility.
- Last transfer to your accommodation address or JR transfer destination: Distinguish between JR Station East Sakura-dori Exit · 桜通口 and West Taiko-dori Exit · 太閤通口. For the Shinkansen, continue towards the west side of JR Nagoya Station and use a separate valid JR ticket at the appropriate gate.
If you stay in a hotel west of the station, there is still a walking section from the Meitetsu drop-off point through the JR station. Not all hotels in front of the station are on the same street. When transferring to JR, Meitetsu special car tickets cannot be used as JR tickets.
If you have large luggage, check the elevator route in the map below first, and do not transfer just before the Shinkansen departure.

If you stay in Kanayama, you don’t have to go to Nagoya Station.
Get off at Kanayama Station · 金山駅. μSKY takes approximately 24 minutes and costs 1,360 yen, and ordinary cars cost 910 yen. The time varies depending on the ride. After entering the country, go to the station → Choose a train stopping at Kanayama → Get off and go to the ticket gate → Walk to the accommodation address.
The final route is different for hotels on the north and south sides of the station.
When continuing to Sakae, exit the Meitetsu ticket gate and follow the municipal subway signs to a separate ticket gate. Distinguish between JR transfers and subway transfers. You can also connect to JR and subway maps from the Meitetsu official Kanayama Station guide.

Accommodation in Sakae: Compare Kanayama subway transfers and bus stops
For a hotel in Sakae · 栄, compare its distance from the subway station and the airport-bus arrival stops.
Railway: Kanayama → Meijo Line clockwise loop → Sakae
Arrival hall → Airport Station → Get off at Kanayama → Separate subway ticket gate → Meijo Line clockwise loop (toward Sakae/Ozone) → Sakae Station → Accommodation. Passing through Higashibetsuin, Kamimaezu, and Yabacho, you arrive at Sakae.
Add the subway to the airport train for about 8 minutes, 210 yen, transfers, and waiting. The total cost for ordinary cars is 1,120 yen, and for μSKY, the total is 1,570 yen.
If you want to transfer at Nagoya Station, take the Higashiyama Line toward Fujigaoka and get off at Sakae, after Fushimi. The subway ride is about 5 minutes and 210 yen, the total from the airport is 1,190 yen by ordinary car, and the total cost by μSKY is 1,640 yen.
Walking and waiting between Meitetsu and subway ticket gates are separate. If you take the anticlockwise loop of the Meijo Line, it takes a big turn in the opposite direction from Kanayama to Sakae, so be sure to check the direction.
Bus: T1 No. 6 → Nagoya Tokyu Hotel Sakae NE2b
If your hotel is near Nagoya Tokyu Hotel · 名古屋東急ホテル, compare its airport-bus stop, about 50 minutes from the airport. Sakae’s arrival-only stop NE2b is about 55 minutes away. It differs from airport-bound stop 9 (NE2a) at Oasis 21 · オアシス21.
After getting off, follow the walking map to your accommodation.
The bus departs from number 6 on the first floor of Terminal 1. The timetable showing the Terminal 2 stop is a drop-off guide from the city to the airport, so it should not be read as saying that you can get on T2 directly to the city. Arrivals at T2 should go to T1 first by free shuttle or official walking connection.
Until October 31, airport departure: 09:40, 11:40, 12:40, 13:40, 15:40, 17:40, 19:40, 21:40. One-way ticket for adults is 2,000 yen, no reservation required, on a first-come, first-served basis, and you may not be able to ride if all seats are filled. The 12:40 departure does not accept cash. For touch payments using transport IC cards and supported credit cards, tap your card when boarding and getting off, and follow the official instructions for cash and web ticket payments for general transportation.
The bus ticket booth on the second floor of the airport is open from 09:00 to 19:00. After that, you must check the on-site ticket machine and on-board payment conditions.
The bus continues to Nishiki Dori Hommachi · 錦通本町 and Nagoya Kanko Hotel · 名古屋観光ホテル. For hotels on the Fushimi · 伏見 side, please compare this drop-off point with the address.
Estimated time may vary depending on road congestion or transit points.

Official access information gives about 5 minutes on foot from station exit 7. This is the final walk, not the journey time from the airport.
Nagoya Castle’s Main Gate and East Gate are separate entrances. From the Meijo Line, use East Gate as your destination and follow local signs. Check opening and admission information for your date.

According to the official tourist information, it is about a 3-minute walk from Exit 2 to the temple. Don't think of the temple entrance and the entire long shopping street as one point. Last trains from Centrair and the final connection to Sakae
The official Meitetsu timetable compares October 5, 2026, a weekday, and October 4, 2026, a weekend. On both dates, the last μSKY leaves the airport at 22:07; the last city-bound train leaves at 23:31. On the day of travel, please check again with the official inquiry below. Just because μSKY is over doesn't mean all trains are over.
- 22:07 μSKY · Meitetsu to Nagoya: Weekday inquiry Kanayama 22:31 → Meitetsu Nagoya 22:36. Regular fare + special vehicle ticket required.
- 23:31 Limited express · All vehicles · Regular cars · Meitetsu to Gifu: Weekday inquiry Kanayama the next day 00:01 → Meitetsu Nagoya 00:06. This train uses the basic fare with no seat fee, but a seat is not guaranteed.
- Last bus to Sakae departs at 21:40: Until October 31, T1 No. 6 → Tokyu Hotel 22:30 → Sakae NE2b 22:35. Use the airport-to-city timetable, rather than the city-to-airport departures.
The Meijo Line clockwise last-train timetable shows Kanayama 00:04 → Sakae 00:14. The last airport train arrives at Kanayama at 00:01, which is 3 minutes apart, so connection cannot be guaranteed considering separate ticket gate travel and suitcase.
For accommodation in Sakae, choose an earlier train or plan to continue by taxi from Kanayama. The subway service ending in Kanayama should not be read as the last train to Sakae.
Arrivals at Terminal 2 must add 7 to 10 minutes for station access plus immigration, baggage, and ticketing times. Even if the flight landing time is earlier than the train departure time, boarding is not guaranteed. There is no official guarantee that trains or scheduled buses will wait for a delayed flight.

If you think you will miss your reserved train because of a flight delay
Meitetsu online special car tickets can be changed for free twice up to 1 minute before the indicated departure time. Special vehicle tickets purchased at station vending machines/counters can be changed for free once before departure. Changes require empty seats and sales conditions, and online discount coupons may differ in price.
It should not be assumed that special car tickets missed after departure can be used on a later train or changed or refunded later.
Voluntary μticket refunds have a 220 yen fee and must be handled before departure under the stated conditions. Refunds for a Meitetsu suspension or delay over an hour have different rules; an aircraft delay is a separate reason. Use the online confirmation/change/refund menu, or ask station staff about a paper ticket.
The bus web ticket does not provide seat assignment or reservation. Tickets purchased from CentX and WILLER will only be refunded through the respective app or retailer, and a 100 yen fee will be charged. Check the date, expiration date, and usage conditions of the relevant ticket on the purchase screen.

When the train or bus is over: taxi, reserved vehicle, or accommodation near the airport
For Terminal 1, please ask an official company to dispatch a taxi at the taxi stand on the 1st floor of Access Plaza, and for Terminal 2, outside the building on the 1st floor. The airport informs you that a phone call is required for taxis in Terminal 2.

The reference price for a metered taxi at the airport is approximately 16,000 yen for 50 minutes to Nagoya Station and approximately 15,500 yen for 45 minutes to Sakae, excluding expressway and connecting bridge tolls. The actual price will vary depending on traffic conditions, night fares, and destination. Meitetsu Chita Taxi offers a 20% surcharge for distance and waiting fares between 22:00 and 05:00 the next day, and payment can be made with cash or supported credit cards. Tsubame's pre-booked vehicle is approximately 17,700 yen per vehicle from the airport to central Nagoya hotel, a separate reference price including tax and highway tolls. There is a 20% surcharge between 22:00 and 05:00 the next day. Reservations are accepted from one month to 09:00 two days prior to use. The operator instructs passengers to cancel by phone by 17:00 the day before travel.
In case of delay, check the waiting time, additional cost, and cancellation fee at the time of reservation, and if the arrival flight changes, contact the emergency number +81-52-604-8183. +81-52-604-8183
A service whose advance-booking deadline has passed is not an immediate late-arrival alternative. If it is difficult to secure a vehicle, first confirm a room at an accommodation near the airport, late check-in, and transportation from the terminal to the hotel. The fact that an airport building is open does not guarantee accommodation or hotel rooms.
If the subway ends in the city, take a taxi from the station to your accommodation, or check the streets, entrances, and crosswalks of the actual walking route and walk. When dragging a suitcase alone, you can reduce searches while moving by securing the battery, accommodation address, check-in deadline, and elevator location in advance.
In case of typhoons or strong winds, you must see the operation notice on the day.
Check the airport, Meitetsu, bus operator and municipal subway for actual disruption notices. A forecast alone does not confirm a suspension. Suitcase/rental car pickup conditions vary depending on transportation.
Meitetsu free carry-on baggage is limited to two pieces of luggage, each with a total of three sides of 250 cm, weight of 30 kg, and length of 2 m. Daily belongings such as handbags are excluded from the count, but may be restricted if crowded or disruptive to other passengers.
Do not think of μSKY baggage space as being secured separately like a seat reservation. You must take care of your luggage yourself and do not block the entrance or passageway.
For buses, there are separate restrictions on luggage larger than a 63cm cube, weight exceeding 30kg, and a total of three sides exceeding 2m. Take your valuables into the car, and tell the driver where to drop off and pick up your luggage in the trunk. Don't apply railway standards to buses as well.
For rental cars, the date and vehicle type are reserved at the airport store. Examples of business hours in the official information are Toyota 07:30~22:00, Nippon, Orix, and Nissan 08:00~20:00, and Times 09:00~19:00.
Pick-up location and contract closing are based on reservation. If your flight is delayed, you must first contact the company to ask whether collection after closing or a free booking change is possible. Please also check driving qualifications, insurance, fuel, return point, and hotel parking fees separately.

Frequently asked questions when traveling from Centrair to Nagoya
How do I get from Centrair to Nagoya Station?
After immigration and baggage collection, follow the signs to Central Japan International Airport Station in Access Plaza. Take a Meitetsu train stopping at Meitetsu Nagoya. The adult basic fare is 980 yen; μSKY adds a 450-yen special-car ticket, giving a total of 1,430 yen. Its shortest journey is 28 minutes, excluding the terminal walk, ticketing, waiting and the route to your hotel.
How do I reach the station from Terminal 1 or Terminal 2?
Terminal 1 arrivals are on the second floor, with a connection to Access Plaza. The official guide does not give a fixed walking time. From Terminal 2 first-floor arrivals, the station route via the P1 parking passage takes about 7 minutes. The separate inter-terminal route via Flight of Dreams takes about 10 minutes. Add luggage, lift queues, ticketing and waiting.
How is μSKY different from other Meitetsu trains?
All μSKY cars have reserved special-car seats, requiring both the basic fare and a special-car ticket. Some limited-express trains combine ordinary and special cars; others have only ordinary cars. Ordinary cars on limited-express, express and semi-express services use the basic fare, with no seat guarantee. Check the timetable for your train’s destination, stops and journey time.
Is the seat reservation included in the basic fare?
No. A standard special-car ticket costs an additional 450 yen. The total for μSKY is 1,430 yen to Meitetsu Nagoya or 1,360 yen to Kanayama. An online special-car ticket covers the seat charge only; you still need to pay the basic fare. A conditional 300-yen online time-slot offer does not apply to every train.
Can I use a transport IC card?
Meitetsu accepts mutually compatible transport IC cards, including manaca, Suica and ICOCA, for the basic fare. Tapping through the gate does not reserve a μSKY seat; buy the special-car ticket separately. The Sakae bus also accepts supported transport IC cards: tap when boarding and getting off. Its 12:40 airport departure does not accept cash.
How do I transfer to JR or the Shinkansen?
At Meitetsu Nagoya, leave the Meitetsu gates and follow the JR or Shinkansen signs to JR Nagoya Station. These are separate stations and gates. The Shinkansen is towards the west-side Taiko-dori exit. For Sakae by subway, enter the separate Higashiyama Line gates and take a train towards Fujigaoka. Use the official station maps to plan lifts and transfer time.
How do I reach a hotel in Sakae?
At Kanayama, exit the Meitetsu gates and enter the subway. Take the Meijo Line clockwise towards Sakae and Ozone, then get off at Sakae. The subway fare is 210 yen: the airport total is 1,120 yen by ordinary car or 1,570 yen by μSKY. Alternatively, change at Nagoya to the Higashiyama Line towards Fujigaoka, or take the 2,000-yen airport bus from Terminal 1 stop 6 if its arrival stop is close to your hotel.
Which train should I take for Kanayama?
Choose a μSKY, limited-express or express service shown as stopping at Kanayama. μSKY takes about 24 minutes and costs 1,360 yen, comprising the 910-yen basic fare and 450-yen special-car ticket. Ordinary cars cost 910 yen, with journey time depending on stops. For a hotel near Kanayama, get off there rather than continuing to Nagoya and returning.
Can I travel with a large suitcase?
Meitetsu’s free allowance covers up to two carryable items, each within a combined length, width and height of 250 cm, a weight of 30 kg and a length of 2 m. Restrictions can apply when crowded or when luggage obstructs others. Bus limits are separate, including luggage larger than a 63-cm cube, over 30 kg or over 2 m in combined dimensions. For taxis or reserved vehicles, confirm passenger and luggage capacity before booking.
What if a flight delay makes me miss my reserved train or the last service?
Online Meitetsu special-car tickets can be changed twice without a change fee until one minute before the booked departure; station-issued special-car tickets allow one free change before departure, subject to seats and ticket conditions. A missed ticket cannot simply be reused on a later train. On the reviewed weekday and weekend dates, the last μSKY leaves at 22:07 and the last city-bound ordinary-car limited express at 23:31. Trains and buses are not guaranteed to wait for flights. After services finish, use an official taxi, a vehicle booked within its deadline or confirmed accommodation near the airport.
Are Centrair and Komaki Airport the same airport?
No. This guide starts at Chubu Centrair International Airport (NGO), served by Central Japan International Airport Station. Nagoya Airport, also called Komaki Airport, has code NKM and different boarding points and routes. Check the airport code and terminal on your flight booking.
