Centrair Airport to Nagoya, Sakae and Kanayama

For a hotel near Nagoya or Kanayama Station, take a Meitetsu train. For Sakae, transfer to the subway at Kanayama or compare the airport bus’s stop with your hotel address. Terminal 1 connects to the station through Access Plaza on the second floor; Terminal 2 requires a longer walk.

From Terminal 1 or 2 to the Meitetsu station

Central Japan International Airport Station · 中部国際空港駅 is in Access Plaza · アクセスプラザ. The two arrival terminals have different routes to it.

Terminal 1: second-floor arrivals → Access Plaza

  1. Finish immigration and baggage claim, then enter second-floor arrivals.
  2. Follow Railway / Access Plaza signs along the connecting passage. The airport describes a stair-free connection.
  3. Choose your destination and car type at a Meitetsu machine or counter, then enter the gates.

No fixed walking time is given for this same-level connection. Allow for the walk and ticket queues. Terminal 1 layout ↗

Terminal 2: first-floor arrivals → P1 walkway → Station

  1. Leave first-floor arrivals and follow Railway / ‘中部国際空港駅’ signs.
  2. The official station route via the P1 parking connection takes about seven minutes.
  3. At Access Plaza, buy your Meitetsu ticket or prepare an IC card before entering the gates.

The airport’s separate terminal-transfer route goes up by ramp or elevator, via Flight of Dreams · フライト・オブ・ドリームズ and moving walkways, taking about ten minutes. The seven- and ten-minute descriptions cover different routes. Add luggage and elevator delays.

A free terminal shuttle is also listed at roughly 15-minute intervals; confirm its current stops and hours. For a Sakae-bound bus, first reach Terminal 1 stop 6.

Choose the right car and ticket

μSKY · ミュースカイ has all reserved special-car seats and normally uses platform 1. Other limited-express and express services normally use platforms 2 or 3; the departure board takes priority. Some limited expresses mix ordinary and special cars, while other trains have only ordinary cars. Do not assume the train name allows the same ticket in every car.

An ordinary ticket or supported IC card such as manaca, Suica or ICOCA pays the base fare. Special cars also require a special-car ticket, called a μticket. An online μticket does not include the base fare. Reservations open one month before travel and depend on available seats; conditional online time-slot discounts do not replace the regular JPY 450 charge for every departure.

From Meitetsu Nagoya to JR or your hotel

Meitetsu Nagoya Station · 名鉄名古屋駅 is south of JR Nagoya Station · 名古屋駅. The subway, JR and Meitetsu have separate gates and platforms.

  1. Reach the airport station by the terminal route above.
  2. Choose μSKY or an ordinary car on a train stopping at Meitetsu Nagoya. A train toward Gifu or Inuyama can be used if its stop list includes Nagoya.
  3. Get off and leave the Meitetsu gates. Follow JR, Shinkansen or subway signs for your onward route.
  4. For your hotel, distinguish the east Sakura-dori Exit · 桜通口 from the west Taiko-dori Exit · 太閤通口. For the Shinkansen, continue toward JR’s western side and enter the correct JR gates with a valid separate ticket.

A west-side hotel leaves a walk through the JR station. A Meitetsu special-car ticket is not a JR ticket. With large bags, plan elevators and a transfer allowance rather than arriving just before your Shinkansen leaves.

For Kanayama hotels, get off before Nagoya

Kanayama Station · 金山駅 is about 24 minutes by μSKY, costing JPY 1,360 including the seat charge. An ordinary car costs JPY 910, with ride time depending on stops. Choose a Kanayama-stopping train, leave the gates and use your hotel’s address to select the north or south approach.

For Sakae, follow municipal-subway signs to its separate gates, not the JR transfer. Kanayama connections ↗ · Meitetsu → Subway walking route ↗

Sakae: subway transfer or airport-bus stop?

Choose by the distance from your hotel to Sakae · 栄 station or an actual bus stop.

Kanayama → Meijo Line clockwise → Sakae

Leave the Meitetsu gates, enter the subway and take the clockwise Meijo Line toward Sakae/Ozone. Pass Higashibetsuin, Kamimaezu and Yabacho before Sakae. The subway adds about eight minutes and JPY 210, giving an airport total of JPY 1,120 by ordinary car or JPY 1,570 by μSKY. Gate-to-gate walks and waiting are extra. Counterclockwise goes the long way around.

Alternatively, at Nagoya transfer to the Higashiyama Line toward Fujigaoka. Pass Fushimi and get off at Sakae: about five minutes, JPY 210, and airport totals of JPY 1,190 ordinary / JPY 1,640 μSKY.

Terminal 1 stop 6 → Tokyu Hotel / Sakae NE2b

Nagoya Tokyu Hotel · 名古屋東急ホテル is about 50 minutes by bus; Sakae drop-off stop NE2b is about 55. NE2b differs from Oasis 21 · オアシス21 stop 9 (NE2a), used in the airport-bound direction. Match the drop-off location to your hotel’s walk.

City-bound buses leave Terminal 1, first-floor stop 6. A Terminal 2 stop shown on the opposite-direction timetable is a drop-off point, not a city-bound boarding point. From T2, use the official walkway or shuttle to T1.

Through October 31, airport departures are 09:40, 11:40, 12:40, 13:40, 15:40, 17:40, 19:40 and 21:40. The adult fare is JPY 2,000; seats are first come, first served without reservations. The 12:40 service is cashless. Tap supported transit IC or contactless credit cards both when boarding and exiting. Other cash and web-ticket procedures follow the operator’s instructions.

The second-floor bus ticket counter is listed as 09:00–19:00. Outside those hours, check the ticket machine and onboard payment rules. The route continues to Nishiki Dori Hommachi · 錦通本町 and Nagoya Kanko Hotel · 名古屋観光ホテル; compare these stops for a hotel near Fushimi · 伏見. Traffic can change arrival times.

Nagoya Castle and Osu use different stations

Nagoya Castle · 名古屋城

From Kanayama, take the clockwise Meijo Line through Sakae and Hisaya-odori to Nagoyajo Station · 名古屋城駅. Leave at exit 7 and walk toward the castle’s east gate, about five minutes according to official tourism information. This is only the final walk, not the airport journey.

The main and east gates are separate. Use the east gate as your walking destination, and confirm opening and admission conditions for your date.

Osu Kannon and the western shopping district

From Meitetsu Nagoya, enter the Higashiyama Line toward Fujigaoka. At Fushimi, transfer to the Tsurumai Line toward Akaike/Toyota City and get off at Osu Kannon Station · 大須観音駅. Exit 2 is about a three-minute walk to Osu Kannon · 大須観音, with Osu Shopping District · 大須商店街 nearby.

The temple entrance is not the whole shopping district. For its eastern side, compare Kamimaezu Station · 上前津駅 on the Meijo Line. At Fushimi, the two subway lines connect within the municipal system; the subway ticket is separate from your airport train and μticket.

Last airport departures and the Sakae connection

Official timetable checks for weekday October 5 and weekend October 4, 2026 show the last airport-origin μSKY at 22:07 and the last city-bound train at 23:31. Recheck your date; the last μSKY is not the last train.

  • 22:07 μSKY toward Meitetsu Nagoya: weekday result Kanayama 22:31 → Nagoya 22:36. Base fare plus special-car ticket required.
  • 23:31 limited express toward Meitetsu Gifu: all ordinary cars, Kanayama 00:01 → Nagoya 00:06 the next day. No seat charge, but no guaranteed seat.
  • 21:40 final Sakae bus: through October 31, T1 stop 6 → Tokyu Hotel 22:30 → Sakae NE2b 22:35.

The clockwise Meijo Line’s last listed connection is Kanayama 00:04 → Sakae 00:14. The last airport train reaches Kanayama at 00:01, leaving only three minutes between separate gates. Do not rely on that connection with luggage; take an earlier train or arrange an onward taxi. A subway terminating at Kanayama does not reach Sakae.

T2 station access adds roughly 7–10 minutes, plus immigration, baggage claim and ticketing. Landing before departure does not establish that you can board. No flight-delay waiting guarantee was verified for trains or scheduled buses.

If you may miss a reserved train

Online Meitetsu special-car tickets allow two free changes up to one minute before the stated departure. Station-issued special-car tickets allow one free change before departure. Changes require available seats and compliance with sales conditions; a discounted ticket may incur a price difference. Do not assume a missed ticket can be reused on the next train or changed or refunded after departure.

Voluntary refunds carry a JPY 220 fee and must meet the pre-departure rules. Fee-free handling for a Meitetsu cancellation or delay over one hour is not the same as an airline delay. Use the online booking’s change/refund menu or ask station staff for paper tickets.

Bus web tickets do not reserve seats. CentX and WILLER tickets must be refunded through the respective app or seller, with a listed JPY 100 fee. Check validity and use conditions. For bus cancellations or road closures, ask Nagoya Central Office at +81-52-304-9951.

After the last train or bus

T1’s taxi stand is on Access Plaza’s first floor; T2’s is outside its first floor. The airport says T2 requires calling for dispatch. Meitetsu Chita Taxi’s 24-hour number is +81-569-37-1112; an immediate vehicle is not guaranteed.

Airport taxi estimates are about JPY 16,000/50 minutes to Nagoya Station or JPY 15,500/45 minutes to Sakae, per vehicle, excluding expressway and connecting-bridge tolls. Traffic, destination and night fares affect the total. Chita Taxi lists a 20% distance/time surcharge from 22:00–05:00 and accepts cash and supported cards. Confirm the quote and card type. Meter and night fares ↗ · Payment ↗

Tsubame’s prebooked airport-to-central-hotel vehicle is a separate reference price of about JPY 17,700 per vehicle including tax and highway tolls, with a 20% surcharge 22:00–05:00. Book from one month before travel until 09:00 two days before. Cancellation instructions say to call by 17:00 the day before. Confirm waiting, extra charges and cancellation fees when booking; report a changed flight at +81-52-604-8183.

A booking deadline that has already passed is not a same-night alternative. If no car is available, confirm an airport-area hotel room, late check-in and access. An open airport building does not guarantee overnight accommodation. In the city, confirm a taxi or an actual walking route to your hotel, with exits and crossings.

Typhoons and strong winds

Weather alone does not establish a suspension. Check the airport, Meitetsu, bus operator and subway notices separately.

Luggage and rental-car pickup

Meitetsu’s free carry-on allowance is up to two portable items, each within a combined 250 cm, 30 kg and 2 m length. Everyday items such as handbags are excluded from the count, but crowding or obstruction may restrict luggage. Storage space is not reserved with your μSKY seat; keep doors and aisles clear.

Bus rules differ, including restrictions on items larger than a 63 cm cube, over 30 kg or over a combined 2 m. Keep valuables onboard. Tell the driver your stop before loading and retrieving compartment luggage yourself. Rail baggage rules ↗ · Bus luggage rules ↗

Official rental hours include Toyota 07:30–22:00; Nippon, Orix and Nissan 08:00–20:00; Times 09:00–19:00. Your booking controls pickup location and deadline. Ask the company about a late flight before assuming after-hours pickup or free changes. Confirm driving eligibility, insurance, fuel, return point and hotel parking separately. Rental companies and hours ↗

Official tickets and reservations

These are official operator links, not affiliate offers. An online μticket covers the seat charge only; the base fare is separate. Do not assume a transit pass includes airport trains or buses.

For a reserved vehicle, provide the flight, terminal, hotel address, passenger count and luggage, then confirm the meeting point and delay contact. A rental car is self-drive, not a chauffeur transfer.

Plan the final walk using station exits

Walking links may start at a station reference point rather than its exit. Locate exit 7 for the castle and exit 2 for Osu on official maps first. For a hotel, set its exact name and address, and identify elevators and crossings. Straight-line map distances are not presented as walking times.

Centrair to Nagoya: FAQ

How do I get from Centrair to Nagoya Station?

Take Meitetsu from Central Japan International Airport Station at Access Plaza and get off at Meitetsu Nagoya. An adult ordinary-car ticket costs JPY 980; μSKY costs JPY 1,430 including the JPY 450 special-car ticket. The fastest μSKY ride is 28 minutes, excluding immigration, baggage claim, terminal walking, tickets, waiting and the hotel walk.

How do I reach the station from Terminal 1 or 2?

T1 arrivals on the second floor connect to Access Plaza; no fixed walking time is given. From T2 first-floor arrivals, the official P1 connecting route takes about seven minutes. The separate route via Flight of Dreams takes about ten minutes. Allow extra time for luggage, elevators and tickets.

How is μSKY different from other Meitetsu trains?

μSKY has all reserved special-car seats and requires the base fare plus a special-car ticket. Some limited expresses mix special and ordinary cars. Ordinary cars and ordinary express/semi-express services need only the base fare, but seats are not guaranteed. Check each service’s destination and stops.

Is the special-car charge included in the fare?

The normal special-car charge is JPY 450. Airport-to-Nagoya μSKY totals JPY 1,430; airport-to-Kanayama totals JPY 1,360. An online μticket pays only the special-car charge, not the base fare. Conditional time-slot discounts do not apply to every departure.

Can I use Suica or another transit IC card?

Supported cards such as manaca, Suica and ICOCA pay the Meitetsu base fare. They do not reserve a μSKY seat; buy its special-car ticket separately. Sakae-bound buses also accept supported transit IC cards; tap on boarding and exiting. The airport’s 12:40 bus departure is cashless.

How do I transfer from Meitetsu Nagoya to JR or the Shinkansen?

Leave the Meitetsu gates and follow JR/Shinkansen signs to JR Nagoya Station. The stations have separate gates and platforms. The Shinkansen is toward JR’s west Taiko-dori side. For Sakae by subway, use the separate Higashiyama Line gates toward Fujigaoka. Plan elevator routes and transfer time with luggage.

How do I reach Sakae?

At Kanayama, leave Meitetsu and take the clockwise Meijo Line toward Sakae/Ozone. The subway costs JPY 210, giving an airport total of JPY 1,120 ordinary or JPY 1,570 μSKY. You can also transfer at Nagoya to the Higashiyama Line toward Fujigaoka. To avoid a subway transfer, compare the JPY 2,000 bus from T1 stop 6 with your hotel’s location.

Which train should I take for Kanayama?

Choose a μSKY, limited express or express whose stop list includes Kanayama. μSKY takes about 24 minutes and costs JPY 1,360 including the seat charge. An ordinary car costs JPY 910 and can take longer depending on stops. For a Kanayama hotel, you do not need to continue to Nagoya and backtrack.

Can I bring a large suitcase?

Meitetsu allows up to two portable items, each within combined dimensions of 250 cm, 30 kg and 2 m length. Crowding or obstruction can restrict luggage. Bus rules differ, including limits involving a 63 cm cube, 30 kg and combined dimensions of 2 m. For a taxi or reserved vehicle, confirm capacity for passengers and bags.

What if my flight is delayed and I miss my reserved or last train?

Online special-car tickets allow two free changes up to one minute before departure; station-issued tickets allow one free pre-departure change. Seats and sales conditions apply. A missed reservation cannot simply be used on the next train. Timetables reviewed October 5, 2026 show the last airport μSKY at 22:07 and last city-bound ordinary-car limited express at 23:31 on the checked weekday/weekend dates. Do not assume transport waits for a flight. After service ends, confirm an official taxi, a previously booked car or an available airport-area hotel.

Is Centrair the same as Komaki Airport?

No. This guide starts at Chubu Centrair International Airport, code NGO, and its Meitetsu station. Nagoya Airport, also called Komaki Airport, has code NKM and different access routes. Check the code and terminal on your ticket.
