Before you visit

Suspended 20 October–8 November 2026

The ropeway closes for maintenance during this period. The summit deck itself lists hours of 10:00–21:00; ropeway suspension does not mean the whole mountain is closed. However, the Hokkaido guide's 2-day and 3-day Hakodate routes and 5-day Sapporo–Hakodate route do not include alternative summit transport. Omit the ropeway and summit visit from these plans during suspension.

An uphill walk to the boarding station

The ropeway boarding station is about a 10-minute uphill walk from Jujigai tram stop. Allow for a slower pace or breaks. If hills are difficult, separately check buses to the lower station or taxis available for your date.
