Before you visit

Suspended from 20 October to 8 November 2026

The ropeway closes for maintenance during this period. The summit observation deck itself is listed as open 10:00–21:00; a ropeway suspension does not mean the entire mountain is closed. However, the Hokkaido guide’s two- and three-day Hakodate routes and five-day Sapporo–Hakodate route exclude alternative summit transport. Leave both the ropeway and summit visit out of these itineraries during the suspension.

The boarding station requires an uphill walk

The lower ropeway station is about a 10-minute uphill walk from Jujigai tram stop. Allow time to walk slowly or rest. If hills are difficult, check buses actually serving the lower station on your date or consider a taxi separately.
