Admission
General admission costs ¥850, with free entry for high school pupils and younger visitors. During the orchid exhibition from 6 to 28 February 2027, general admission costs ¥1,700.
Opening hours
Opening hours are 09:00–17:00, with entry until 16:30. The garden closes from 27 December to 1 January and on additional maintenance dates. See the date-specific closure information below.

How to get to Kochi Prefectural Makino Botanical Garden
From JR Kochi Station, take MY Yu to Makino-Shokubutsuen-Seimon-Mae, then walk to the garden’s main entrance. From the airport, take an airport bus and change to MY Yu. The airport bus does not reach the main entrance. The garden has slopes, level changes and narrow paths.

The garden has slopes, level changes and narrow sections. If walking distance or steps are a concern, read official visitor information first. For plenty of time at both the garden and Katsurahama, visit them on separate days.
Admission changes during the orchid exhibition
General admission costs ¥1,700 during the orchid exhibition from 6 to 28 February 2027. High school pupils and younger visitors enter free.
Check maintenance closure dates
The garden closes from 27 December to 1 January. Additional maintenance closures are 26 October and 30 November 2026; 25 January, 26 May, 30 June, 28 July, 25 August, 29 September, 27 October and 24 November 2027; and 26 January 2028. Recheck the official calendar as your visit approaches.
