Visitor information
Admission
General admission is JPY 850; senior high school students and younger enter free. During the orchid exhibition from 6 to 28 February 2027, general admission is JPY 1,700.
Opening hours
The garden opens 09:00–17:00, with last admission at 16:30. It closes 27 December–1 January and on separate maintenance dates. See the dated closure information below.

Tropical plants from the greenhouse and viewing deck
After exploring the tropical plants and waterside garden, head up to the viewing deck. Looking down on the palm leaves offers a different view from ground level.
How to get to Kochi Prefectural Makino Botanical Garden
Take MY-YU from JR Kochi Station to Makino Shokubutsuen Seimon-mae, then walk to the garden's main entrance. From the airport, take the airport shuttle and change to MY-YU; the airport shuttle does not serve the main entrance. The garden includes slopes, changes in level and narrow paths.

The grounds include slopes, changes in level and narrow sections. Check the official visitor guide if the walking distance or steps may be difficult. For plenty of time at both the garden and Katsurahama coast, visit them on separate days.
Admission changes during the orchid exhibition
General admission is JPY 1,700 during the orchid exhibition from 6 to 28 February 2027. Senior high school students and younger enter free.
Check maintenance closures
Closed 27 December–1 January. Separate maintenance closures are 26 October and 30 November 2026; 25 January, 26 May, 30 June, 28 July, 25 August, 29 September, 27 October and 24 November 2027; and 26 January 2028. Check the official calendar again closer to your travel date.

Does the airport bus go to Makino Botanical Garden's main entrance?
The airport shuttle does not serve the garden's main entrance. From the airport, change from the airport shuttle to MY-YU, get off at Makino Shokubutsuen Seimon-mae and walk to the main entrance.
