General admission costs JPY 850. Senior high school pupils and younger children enter free. Admission rises to JPY 1,700 during the orchid exhibition from 6–28 February 2027.
Opening hours and closed days
The garden opens from 09:00–17:00, with entry until 16:30. It closes from 27 December–1 January and on maintenance dates; see the dated closures below.

After the greenhouse/waterside garden, visit the deck for palm leaves from above, a different angle from ground-level viewing.
How to get to Kochi Prefectural Makino Botanical Garden
From JR Kochi, take MY Yu to Makino-Shokubutsuen-Seimon-Mae and walk to the main entrance. From the airport, transfer between airport-connection bus and MY Yu; airport buses do not reach this entrance. Garden paths have slopes, level changes and narrow sections.
