The JR Kyushu Mobile Pass Fukuoka Wide covers unreserved seats on designated local, rapid and limited-express trains near Fukuoka · 福岡 for two consecutive days. It stays on your smartphone without paper exchange; Shinkansen, subways and buses are excluded.

When does this pass suit your itinerary?

Compare the pass price with individual JR fares if you will travel around Fukuoka on two consecutive days using unreserved seats. For reserved seats or a wider Kyushu trip, compare the Northern Kyushu Rail Pass’s coverage.

Eligibility, prices and child ages

This pass is for travellers living outside Japan who enter on a foreign passport with Temporary Visitor status. Bring your original passport and proof of that status. Official prices are JPY 3,500 adult and JPY 1,750 child. JR Kyushu assesses children aged 6–11 on the start date; check the seller’s age conditions separately.

Covered routes and the official English map

Eligible unreserved seats within the official area, including Mojikō, are covered. The guide shows Sonic from Hakata via Kokura to Yukuhashi · 行橋, and Yufu from Hakata to Kurume. It does not cover the whole journey to Yufuin · 由布院 or Huis Ten Bosch · ハウステンボス. Check the boundary stations on the English map.

The English map reaches Karatsu · 唐津 to the west and Ōmuta · 大牟田 to the south. It also shows the branches to Wakamatsu · 若松, Saitozaki · 西戸崎 and Umi · 宇美. Airport symbols show locations; they do not include airport buses or the Fukuoka subway. On the Karatsu route, the subway section between Hakata and Meinohama · 姪浜 is excluded even if your train runs through.

Excluded trains, operators and seats

The Sanyo Shinkansen between Hakata and Kokura, Kyushu Shinkansen between Hakata and Kurume, other railway companies, subways and buses are excluded. Green Car, DX Green and Green private compartments cannot be used. For a reserved seat, ask at a counter about the separate basic-fare and reserved-seat limited-express tickets and charges before boarding.

JR Kyushu buses, B&S Miyazaki buses, Seven Stars in Kyushu and ARU RESSHA are also excluded. Pay separately for travel beyond the pass area.

LINKTIVITY and my route have different access paths

For a LINKTIVITY sales-channel ticket, open the dedicated URL sent by email. For a my route purchase, select the ticket in the app under my ticket → Purchased Tickets & Reservations. Do not mix their ticket-registration procedures.

After activation in my route, select Show in the In Use tab, or open the ticket icon on the app’s home screen. Present that live ticket to station staff. For LINKTIVITY, present the live browser ticket opened from the emailed URL.

Use the live screen at a staffed gate

Keep an internet connection and check that the validity timer is moving. A screenshot cannot be used for boarding. Show the live ticket screen at a staffed passage rather than using automatic gates.

Cancellation and smartphone problems

JR Kyushu’s official guide lists a JPY 440 fee per ticket for refund before activation and no refund after activation. Agency purchases also need their seller’s cancellation conditions checked. A broken or lost smartphone is not grounds for refund. If you cannot display the ticket for reasons on your side, you must pay separately for the journey.

You cannot change a completed purchase. Before activation, request a refund under your purchase channel’s conditions and buy the correct ticket. After activation, the official guide does not allow a refund.

From purchase to boarding

  1. On the first travel day, open the ticket and check its dates and traveller count. LINKTIVITY uses the emailed URL; my route uses the app’s purchased-ticket list.

  2. Press Activate when you start using the ticket. You cannot obtain a refund after activation.

  3. Connect to the internet, check that the ticket timer is moving, then show the live pass screen and passport to staff.

  4. Use unreserved seats within the coverage area. During an onboard inspection, also tell staff where you will get off.

Frequently asked questions

Can I board with a screenshot of the mobile ticket?

No. Show the live screen in the internet-connected browser or app.

Can I take the Shinkansen from Hakata to Kokura?

No. The Sanyo Shinkansen on this section is excluded.

Is the subway to Fukuoka Airport included?

No. Subways are excluded.

Can I split the two travel days?

No. The pass is valid for two consecutive days.

Can four travellers share one smartphone?

The official guide permits tickets for up to four people on one smartphone. A child ticket cannot be bought on its own. Keep the live ticket available when the group passes a staffed gate.

Can a foreign resident of Japan use this mobile pass?

No. You must live outside Japan, hold a non-Japanese passport and enter with Temporary Visitor status. A foreign passport alone does not meet all three conditions.

Is the Fukuoka Wide mobile pass worth buying?

Compare JPY 3,500 per adult with the ordinary tickets for your actual two-day itinerary. Only eligible JR routes and unreserved seats count; add excluded subway journeys separately. If you need reserved seats or more distant destinations, compare a suitable rail pass and individual tickets instead.
