When is this mobile pass useful?
Compare it with the sum of individual fares if your JR journeys around Fukuoka (福岡) fall on two consecutive days and you will use non-reserved seating. For reserved seats or a wider Kyushu itinerary, compare Northern Kyushu Rail Pass coverage.
Eligibility and official prices
The pass is for travellers living outside Japan who enter as Temporary Visitors on non-Japanese passports. Have your original passport and proof of Temporary Visitor status ready. Official prices are JPY 3,500 for adults and JPY 1,750 for children. JR Kyushu assesses ages 6–11 on the start date; check your seller’s age rule before purchase as well.
Coverage and the English route map
Non-reserved seats within the official coverage area, including Mojikō, are included. The guide lists Sonic between Hakata, Kokura and Yukuhashi (行橋), and Yufu between Hakata and Kurume. It does not cover the whole journey to Yufuin (由布院) or Huis Ten Bosch (ハウステンボス). Check the boundary stations for your destination on the English map.
Excluded trains and seats
The Hakata–Kokura Sanyo Shinkansen, Hakata–Kurume Kyushu Shinkansen, other companies’ railways, subways and buses are excluded. Green Cars, DX Green Cars and Green private compartments are also excluded. If you need a reserved seat, ask at a counter before boarding about the separate basic fare ticket, reserved-seat limited express ticket and required charges.
LINKTIVITY and my route work differently
For a LINKTIVITY sales channel, open the ticket using the dedicated URL in the email. For a my route purchase, choose the ticket in the app under my ticket → Purchased Tickets & Reservations. Follow the instructions for the channel where you bought it.
Internet connection and showing the ticket
You need an internet connection and a ticket screen showing a moving validity timer. A screenshot cannot be used for travel. Use the staffed passage and show the live ticket screen rather than passing through an automatic gate.
Cancellation and phone problems
JR Kyushu’s official conditions charge JPY 440 per ticket for a refund before Activate and do not permit refunds after activation. A travel agency may have separate cancellation conditions. A broken or lost smartphone is not grounds for a refund. If you cannot show the ticket for a reason on your side, you must pay the fare for the journey separately.
From purchase to boarding
On the first travel day, open the ticket and check the date and number of travellers. Use the email URL for LINKTIVITY or the purchased-ticket section of the my route app.
Press Activate when starting to use the pass. Refunds are unavailable after activation.
Connect to the internet, check that the ticket timer is moving and show the live pass screen and your passport to staff.
