Admission

Regular individual admission costs JPY 1,600 for ages 18+ and 15–17, JPY 1,300 for ages 12–14 or JPY 850 for ages 6–11. High school pupils and older pay JPY 1,900 on 27 April–7 May and 1 July–31 August 2026, or JPY 1,350 in December–February. Junior high pupils pay JPY 1,300 in regular and peak seasons or JPY 1,050 off-season; primary school pupils pay JPY 850 in regular and peak seasons or JPY 700 off-season. Check the travel-date table for your age and school category.

Opening hours and closed days

The front entrance admits visitors from 08:30 to 17:30 in March–November, with cave viewing until 18:30, and from 08:30 to 16:30 in December–February, with viewing until 17:30. The lift and Kurotani entrances admit visitors from 08:30 to 16:30, with viewing until 17:30. The cave opens year-round.

How to get to Akiyoshido

Take a Bocho Bus to Akiyoshido from stand 2 at Shin-Yamaguchi Station’s north terminal. Alight at Akiyoshido and walk through the shopping street to the front entrance. Return from the same stop by bus to Shin-Yamaguchi Station. Before leaving, check both travel-day services, the last return bus and fares. This bus fare is excluded from the Yamaguchi guide’s course costs.

Before you visit

Footwear and your exit

The cave floor can be slippery and has steps; wear comfortable shoes with good grip. Allow about 90 minutes to visit and return to the front entrance, with extra time for lunch and the walk to the stop. If using another exit, first check how to get back to the bus stop.
