How to get to Kusasenri

Take JR’s Hohi Main Line to Aso. From Kumamoto, some trains require a change at Higo-Ozu. At Aso, change to Sanko Bus’s Aso mountain route, get off at Kusasenri Aso Kazan Hakubutsukan-mae and walk to the grasslands. Check the stop name so you do not continue to Aso Sanjo Terminal.

Before you visit

Keep your distance from grazing horses

Do not approach, touch or feed grazing horses. Follow the separate riding facility’s guidance for horse riding. Before entering the grasslands, check same-day access, weather and volcanic restrictions too.

Leave time for the return bus

Add time to walk between the grasslands and stop and to wait for the bus. For a Kumamoto return, check the Kusasenri–Aso bus and Aso’s departing JR train together.
