Walking is free. Bicycles and mopeds cost JPY 20 and must be pushed through the tunnel.

What can I see at Kanmon Pedestrian Tunnel?
Take the lift to the underwater passage
Take the lift down at the Shimonoseki entrance to reach the passage towards Moji. Walk beneath the sea to Fukuoka Prefecture on the opposite side.
How to get to Kanmon Pedestrian Tunnel
From Shimonoseki Station stand 1 or 2, take a National Route Line bus to Mimosusogawa. Walk about 1 minute to the Shimonoseki pedestrian entrance. From Karato, use stand 6. Adult fare: JPY 300 one way. Take the lift down to the 780 m pedestrian passage to Moji. Before leaving, check both travel-day buses and the return boarding-stop location at Mimosusogawa.

Before you visit
Pedestrian entrance and bicycles
Use the pedestrian entrance, separate from the road and JR rail tunnels. Bicycles and mopeds cannot be ridden through: dismount and push them. Walking to Moji and back covers 1.56 km inside the tunnel alone.

Must I return to Shimonoseki after crossing the tunnel?
You can continue your trip from Moji or return through the same passage to Shimonoseki. A return walk covers 1.56 km inside the tunnel, excluding access to either entrance.
