Exterior viewing of the pagoda and Kozan Park is free. Special interior visits on specified 2026 dates cost JPY 1,700 per person for both adults and children and require reservations.
Opening hours and closed days
The park and pagoda exterior have no closing days. Goshuin commemorative-stamp reception and the Rurikoji museum open 09:00–17:00. The information centre in front of Kozan Park opens 09:00–18:00; pagoda illumination runs from sunset to 22:00. Special interior visits operate only on specified dates and sessions.

How to get to Rurikoji Five-Storey Pagoda
Take a JR Yamaguchi Line local train towards Yamaguchi from Shin-Yamaguchi Station and alight at Yamaguchi Station. The ride takes about 25 minutes, followed by a 25-minute walk to Rurikoji. Locate the station, Ichinosaka River and Kozan Park on the official city map. Return by the same walking route, then take a local train to Shin-Yamaguchi. Choose the return train allowing for the station walk and your next journey after arrival. Adult local-train fare: JPY 240 one way or JPY 480 return, included in guide courses using this segment.
