Admission

Viewing the pagoda exterior and Kozan Park is free. Special interior viewing on specified 2026 dates costs JPY 1,700 per person for adults and children alike and requires booking.

Opening hours

The park and pagoda exterior have no closing days. Goshuin stamp reception and the Rurikoji museum open 09:00–17:00. The information centre in front of Kozan Park opens 09:00–18:00; pagoda illumination runs from sunset to 22:00. Special interior viewing takes place only on specified dates and sessions.

How to get to Rurikoji five-storey pagoda

Take a JR Yamaguchi Line local train towards Yamaguchi from Shin-Yamaguchi and get off at Yamaguchi Station. The ride takes about 25 minutes; the walk to Rurikoji is about another 25 minutes. Use the official city map to locate the station, Ichinosaka River and Kozan Park. Return along the same walking route, then take a local train towards Shin-Yamaguchi. Choose a return allowing for the station walk and your next journey after arrival. Adult local fares are JPY 240 one way or JPY 480 return, included in guide costs for itineraries using this section. Look up outward and return times separately for your date.
