Three days: shrine walks or the sunset bus?

Stay 2 nights in Okayama for castle, garden, Kurashiki streets and Kibitsu worship. For Ohara, Folkcraft and Washuzan sunset, consider 2 nights in Kurashiki. The sunset bus needs a matching operating day and monthly departure.

Day 1 · Castle and garden together

Castle and garden together

  1. Okayama Station and hotel → Okayama Castle

From Okayama-ekimae, take a Higashiyama-bound tram to Shiroshita, distinct from Seikibashi-bound services. The ride reference is about 5 minutes, followed by about 10 minutes walking to the castle entrance; waiting is extra.

  2. Okayama Castle → Tsukimi Bridge and Korakuen

After the keep, cross Tsukimi Bridge to Korakuen’s south-gate ticket office. The official roughly 5-minute south-gate–castle access excludes stairs and ticket queues. Allow half a day for both places and lunch. The standard joint ticket is JPY 800 when sold; separate tickets total JPY 1,000 otherwise. The garden closes 20 March–30 September at 18:00 or 1 October–19 March at 17:00, with entry ending 15 minutes earlier. After a late arrival, decide whether to see only one before buying a joint ticket.

Kurashiki art and a Seto Ohashi sunset

Spend 2 nights near Kurashiki Station: Western art, then a coastal sunset, then everyday craft exhibitions. The sunset bus allows shorter viewing than a daytime trip.

Day 1 · Ohara Museum of Art

Ohara Museum of Art

  1. Kurashiki Station and hotel → Ohara Museum of Art

From Kurashiki’s south exit, follow the historic-quarter streets for about 15 minutes to Ohara’s main-building ticket office at 1-1-15 Chuo. Reaching the quarter’s entrance after about 10 minutes does not complete this walk.
