Shizuoka City Museum of Art, Toshogu and Sumpu Castle

Stay two Shizuoka nights for art, ornate shrine architecture and castle-history exhibits. Give city art museum, Nihondaira/Kunozan Toshogu and Sumpu separate days, matching exhibits and both summit buses.

Day one: station → date-specific art exhibition → Shizuoka hotel

  1. JR Shizuoka Station north exit → Shizuoka City Museum of Art

Follow the underground passage about three minutes to Aoi Tower’s third floor. This differs from the prefectural art museum. Check your exhibition’s hours and entry deadline, allowing lunch/rest separately.

Frequently asked questions

Can two Shizuoka nights use terrace views instead of the shrine?

Yes. Keep city art and castle, omit ropeway/shrine: checked partial cost JPY 2,610 with terrace building or JPY 2,510 with free corridor only. This uses Renoir same-day JPY 1,600 for 22 September–15 November 2026; return bus, hotels and meals extra. Choose your return timetable.

Do two Atami nights require buses every day?

No. Walk about 20 minutes to Kiunkaku first and Sun Beach last; only MOA uses stand 8 buses. JPY 3,010 comprises MOA JPY 2,000 + bus return JPY 400 + Kiunkaku JPY 610. If you take buses instead of walking the hills or add facilities, budget those costs separately.
