Where should I go after leaving the arrival hall?

Terminal 1 → Nankai or JR trains

  1. After completing immigration and receiving baggage, go to the arrivals hall.
  2. Go up to the second floor and cross the connecting passage following the ‘Railways / 鉄道’ sign.
  3. At Kansai Airport Station, distinguish between Nankai and JR ticket gates. The Rapi:t to Namba is Nankai, and the Haruka is JR.
  4. If you purchased it online, check how to use the exchange voucher/QR and seat assignment before going to the ticket gate.

Terminal 2 → shuttle, then Nankai or JR trains

  1. Go to the free shuttle stop outside the terminal.
  2. Take the shuttle to Aeroplaza. Ride time is approximately 7 to 9 minutes.
  3. From Aeroplaza, go to Kansai Airport Station and follow the signs for Nankai or JR.

There is no railway station in Terminal 2. Please allow extra time to wait for the shuttle and walk to the station.

When taking the bus, check the destination and bus stop outside the first floor of the terminal. It is also indicated on the timetable whether you are stopping at Terminal 2. Airport official bus stop information ↗

How do I get from the arrival station to famous attractions?

Namba · 難波 → Dotonbori · 道頓堀

Get off at Nankai Namba Station and select Ebisubashi in Dotonbori as your destination. From Nankai Namba Station, walk north toward the Dotonbori River. It takes about 10-15 minutes depending on the route.

Walking time varies depending on exit location and waiting at traffic lights. If your suitcase is large, it is convenient to first leave your luggage at the accommodation and then look around.

The Namba OCAT bus terminal is near JR Namba Station, not Nankai Namba Station. Check which station is closest to your hotel.

Osaka Station · 大阪駅 / Umeda · 梅田

Haruka arrives at the underground platform of Osaka Station. There are JR, Hankyu, Hanshin, and subway stations in the Umeda area, so it is more accurate to find the last section by accommodation name and address rather than just searching for ‘Umeda.’

Umeda Sky Building · 梅田スカイビル is located on the north side of Osaka Station. The building’s official access guide lists about a seven-minute walk from JR Osaka Station, so please allow extra time to exit the Haruka underground platform.

Go towards Grand Front Osaka from the Central North Exit and follow the official photo guide and walking map.

Tennoji · 天王寺 → Abeno Harukas · あべのハルカス

If you take the Haruka and get off at Tennoji Station, you can move towards Abeno Harukas. Follow the signs toward Abeno, south of the station. If you want to go to the observatory, take the Harukas Shuttle elevator from the tower’s second floor and go up to the entrance gate on the 16th floor.

If your flight is delayed and you arrive late at night

Choose a departure based on when you can reach the station or bus stop after immigration and baggage claim—not your scheduled landing time. Tell your hotel if your check-in will be late.

  1. Check the conditions for change or cancellation of the reserved transportation. A reservation for one train does not automatically give you a seat on the next.
  2. Check the train and bus timetables for each destination separately for Namba. As of October 4th, the last bus to OCAT departed from Terminal 1 at 21:25.
  3. For Umeda, a late-night bus departing at 00:15 the next day from Terminal 1 is indicated. Cash payment is not possible, and if seats are full, there will be no additional vehicles, so boarding is not guaranteed.
  4. If buses and trains have stopped running, compare official taxi stands, scheduled pickups, or lodging near the airport. For taxis, the total price varies depending on the destination, tolls, and late-night surcharges, so we do not provide a fixed rate.

Things to keep in mind when traveling alone or arriving late at night

Late at night, use the official bus stop and station information counter where there are people, and save the route you will take after getting off to your accommodation in advance. When transferring, keep your passport and cell phone close to your body, and check your luggage again before getting off the train or bus.

For taxis, use the official airport pick-up area or a company you have reserved. Don't jump straight into an unofficial vehicle offered by a stranger; check the vehicle and reservation information. For emergency incidents and accidents, call 110 for police, and for fire and emergency services, call 119. Osaka Tourism Bureau Safety and Disaster Prevention Information ↗

Kansai airport transfer FAQ

Can I get from Kansai Airport to Dotonbori in one trip?

You can take Rapi:t to Nankai Namba Station without transferring. You have to get out of the station and walk to Dotonbori. If your destination is around Ebisubashi, you can expect an additional 10 to 15 minutes of walking. If your accommodation is north of Shinsaibashi, consider taking the subway one more stop from Namba.

I am staying in Umeda. Should I take Rapi:t?

Rapi:t goes to Nankai Namba Station, not Umeda, so you would need to transfer to the subway. For a hotel near Osaka Station, compare JR Haruka and the Umeda airport bus first; they can reduce the number of transfers.

Where do I take the train when I arrive at Terminal 2?

There is no railway station in Terminal 2. Take the free shuttle to Aeroplaza outside the terminal, and then transfer to Kansai Airport Station. The shuttle ride time is approximately 7 to 9 minutes, excluding waiting time and walking time to the station.

If my flight is late and I miss the Rapi:t I reserved, can I take the next train?

Reserved seats cannot be used on the next train. Open the change/exchange conditions for the purchased product, and ask the sales office or Nankai staff before departure if changes are possible. Flight delays do not guarantee an automatic refund of transportation.

If I arrive late at night, are there buses for both Namba and Umeda?

The two bus routes have different last departures. The timetable confirmed on October 4, 2026 shows that the last bus from Terminal 1 to Namba OCAT is at 21:25, and the late-night bus to Umeda is at 00:15 the next day. Payment for the Umeda late-night service must be made without cash, and if all seats are full, no additional vehicles will be provided. Please also check the official timetable and service announcements on the day of departure.

Who can buy the 1,300-yen or 1,800-yen discounted Haruka ticket?

These are JR West’s discounted one-way fares for eligible visitors, not regular fares. You need a passport issued by a foreign government and Temporary Visitor status in Japan. Check the destination, ticket collection method, and seat reservation conditions before buying.
