Obihiro Airport to Obihiro and Tokachigawa Onsen

For a hotel near Obihiro Station, take the JPY 1,000 airport bus. Tokachi Bus reaches the station’s north bus terminal in about 38 minutes; the hotel-loop service stops at designated hotels instead. For Tokachigawa Onsen, transfer to route 45 at the station or take a taxi directly from the airport. The last bus to the hot springs leaves the station at 18:11, so an evening arrival may require a taxi.

Tokachi Obihiro Airport · とかち帯広空港 (OBO) has no railway station. To board a JR train, first travel to Obihiro Station · 帯広駅 by bus or taxi.

This guide covers station-area hotels, city hotels and Tokachigawa Onsen · 十勝川温泉, not every destination in the wider Tokachi · 十勝 region.

Official sources reviewed . The airport-bus timetables apply September 1–October 24, 2026. Use the replacement timetable for travel from October 25. Times are JST and fares are in JPY.

From arrivals to your airport bus

  1. Leave the first-floor arrival lobby.

The airport floor map labels international arrivals ‘到着口1’ and domestic arrivals ‘到着口2’. After immigration, baggage claim and customs, enter the lobby. The bus ticket machine, ‘バス券売機’, is near domestic arrivals. An arrival gate is not the same as an outside exit.

  2. Choose your route and prepare payment.

The station-bound Tokachi Bus accepts cash and PayPay. For the hotel loop, use the lobby’s cashless ticket machine or pay cash onboard. Takushoku-operated services also accept supported contactless credit cards; this does not extend to Tokachi Bus vehicles on the same hotel-loop route.

  3. Go to the bus area outside the terminal.

The hotel-loop service boards at stop 1. For the station-bound Tokachi Bus, look for ‘帯広駅バスターミナル’ and show the driver your destination. Its stop number was not confirmed in the official sources, so check the on-site signs rather than assuming it uses stop 1.

  4. Tell the driver where you will get off before storing your bags.

On hotel-loop buses, collect stored luggage from the driver after getting off. Press the stop button after the announcement and wait until the bus stops completely. Route tickets are not interchangeable. A web ticket does not reserve a seat, and a full bus may not accept more passengers.

Airport bus, hot-spring transfer or taxi?

These are ride times, not landing-to-hotel times. Add immigration, baggage claim, ticketing, waiting, transfers and the final walk. Snow, congestion and road restrictions can lengthen a bus or taxi ride.

The airport’s taxi estimates of roughly JPY 8,000 or 9,000 are not fixed-price reservations. The estimate does not specify whether late-night or winter surcharges are included; confirm the total with the dispatcher.

Tokachi Bus’s regular-route baggage limit is 30 kg, 0.25 m³ and 2 m in length. Folding bicycles and skis need the specified packaging. Do not assume route 45 has an airport bus’s luggage compartment. Takushoku hotel-loop buses have large compartments, but several bags, large instruments or bicycles may be restricted when busy. Baggage and boarding rules ↗

Bus coordinates use Tokachi Bus GTFS and Takushoku’s official stop-location links. Hotel pins identify stops or general approach areas, not surveyed entrances. Hotels north or west of Obihiro Station

The station-bound airport service is operated by Tokachi Bus · 十勝バス. It runs via Kofuku, Taisho, Aikoku and Kawanishi to the station’s north bus terminal, then continues to the west exit, Toyoko Inn/Super Hotel and the western city area. Its stop list differs from the hotel loop.

  1. At the airport, board toward ‘帯広駅バスターミナル’. Prepare cash, PayPay or a ticket valid for this route.
  2. For north-side hotels or route 45, get off at the station bus terminal.

The ride is about 38 minutes and costs JPY 1,000. Stop 10 is for the return journey to the airport, not the arrival drop-off point. After collecting your bags, use the pedestrian area to reach your hotel or the route 45 boarding point.

  3. For west-side hotels, compare the west-exit and hotel stops.

‘帯広駅西口’ is about 43 minutes from the airport, and ‘東横イン・スーパーホテル前’ about 44 minutes. Match the stop to your hotel’s address, not just a similar name. Use crossings and the hotel’s pedestrian entrance.

For a south-side hotel, allow for walking through the station, or compare a hotel-loop stop on the south side. Use the north-to-south walking directions and JR station map. Confirm your train’s platform on the departure board; the bus’s scheduled arrival does not guarantee a limited-express connection.

Hotel-loop buses: check the airport-to-city direction

Hokkaido Takushoku Bus · 北海道拓殖バス operates the hotel loop, with some services handled by Tokachi Bus. From the airport, the stop order is Hokkaido Hotel, Hotel Nikko Northland Obihiro, Comfort, APA Hotel on the north side, CABIN/Fukui Hotel, Grand Terrace, Nupka, Dormy Inn, Area One, then Kino and Otofuke. The return route has a different order.

Hotel Nikko Northland Obihiro · ホテル日航ノースランド帯広 is south of the station; the APA stop is north of it. Hokkaido Hotel · 北海道ホテル is farther from the station, not immediately outside it.

Choose your drop-off point using the hotel’s address and actual entrance. A stop outside one hotel does not put you at the door of another nearby property.

  1. First-floor lobby → Outside stop 1. Prepare the ticket or payment method accepted by your operating company.
  2. Confirm the hotel-bound direction and show the driver your hotel name. Takushoku web QR tickets cannot be used on the Tokachi Bus service connecting with JAL573.
  3. Hotel stop → Collect bags → Pedestrian entrance. Follow the entrance signs rather than walking along the vehicle driveway. For another hotel, use the map link to plan the remaining walk.

Transfer at Obihiro Station for Tokachigawa Onsen

  1. Reach the north-side bus terminal.

The station-bound airport bus takes about 38 minutes and costs JPY 1,000. If you use the hotel loop, get off at the north-side APA stop and walk to the bus terminal.

  2. Prepare your fare or hotel-guest ticket, then find route 45.

Look for ‘十勝川温泉’. Take a numbered ticket when boarding and pay JPY 600 when getting off, using cash, supported QR payment or the guest ticket. Do not rely on a transit IC card. The weekday and weekend PDFs generally show stop 6, but the 13:26, 15:26 and 18:11 departures use stop 7; the weekday 07:11 departure uses stop 5. GTFS groups these under stop 6, so follow the timetable footnotes and on-site signs.

  3. Get off at the stop for your hotel.

The published timetable groups the main hotel area about 28 minutes after the station departure. Tell the driver whether you need Daiichi Hotel, Kangetsuen, Garden Spa, Sasai Hotel or Daiheigen. The grouped arrival time is not a guaranteed time at each hotel door.

  4. Collect your bags and follow your hotel’s entrance directions. The stops are separate; one does not provide direct access to every hotel.

The linked route 45 timetable was revised June 2, 2025. Weekday departures are 07:11, 08:50, 11:20, 13:26, 14:33, 15:26, 16:51 and 18:11. Saturday, Sunday and public-holiday departures are 08:50, 11:20, 13:26, 15:26, 16:51 and 18:11. August 14–16 uses the weekend timetable; December 29–January 3 requires the separate special timetable.

Example: airport 15:40 → station 16:18 → route 45 at 16:51 → hotel area 17:19. This leaves 33 minutes to collect luggage, arrange tickets and reach the next stop. If the airport bus is late, compare the final 18:11 departure or confirm a taxi. Airport departures from 18:55, reaching the station at 19:33, are too late for the hot-spring bus.

The free guest ticket is not a hotel shuttle

The April 1, 2026–March 31, 2027 program covers guests at Daiheigen, Sasai Hotel, Kangetsuen, Sanyoan, Daiichi Hotel’s Hoshutei/Toyotei, Fuji Hotel and Seizakubo. It covers the regular bus between the station and hot springs on check-in and check-out days, not the airport bus.

Show your booking confirmation and hotel name at the north bus-terminal counter to receive the guest ticket. On the outbound ride, put half in the fare box and give the remainder to the hotel front desk. Obtain the return ticket from the front desk for the ride back to the station. Contact the hotel in advance if you cannot provide the required proof.

Kangetsuen’s reviewed FAQ says it does not operate a station or airport shuttle. If another hotel offers a pickup, confirm guest eligibility, flight number, meeting point, booking deadline and delay or cancellation terms directly with that hotel.

The special airport-to-onsen service is suspended

The airport’s Korea-flight connection notice lists the Cheongju-linked airport–station–onsen service as suspended August 31–October 24, 2026. The Incheon-linked service is suspended until further notice. These are actual Korea-linked services, not US-origin routes. The hotel loop to Otofuke is not an onsen route, and Sahoro Resort’s guest vehicle is not an alternative for these hot springs. Do not plan around the direct service without an official restart notice.

From the hot-spring bus stop to your hotel entrance

Tokachigawa Onsen Daiichi Hotel · 十勝川温泉第一ホテル: Get off at ‘第一ホテル’. The hotel’s directions place the stop beside Toyotei’s main entrance. Collect your bags, use the pedestrian approach and show your Hoshutei or Toyotei booking at reception. Sanyoan guests should follow that property’s own entrance instructions.

Kangetsuen · 観月苑: The ‘観月苑’ stop is outside the hotel. Match it to the official access directions. Getting off at Garden Spa instead adds about a five-minute walk according to the hotel. Do not confuse the Milky Liner from New Chitose Airport with an Obihiro Airport bus.

Garden Spa Tokachigawa Onsen · ガーデンスパ十勝川温泉, Sasai Hotel · 笹井ホテル and Hotel Daiheigen · ホテル大平原 have separate stops. For Fuji Hotel, Seizakubo or another property, ask your hotel which stop to use and how to reach its entrance.

Garden Spa → Kangetsuen walking directions ↗. The route link does not confirm same-day access or snow clearance. In winter, a stop nearer your hotel can reduce the distance you need to pull your bags.

Last buses, flight delays and taxis

Station-bound Tokachi Bus: The September 1–October 24, 2026 timetable lists a final 19:35 departure connecting with JAL579. Footnote 3 brings this forward by 10 minutes on October 1–24: 19:25 departure → station 20:03. The October GTFS shows the same time. This applies on weekdays and weekends; an early flight arrival can also mean an earlier bus departure.

Hotel loop: The same-period timetable lists the last departure at 19:35, reaching Hokkaido Hotel at 20:10, Nikko Northland at 20:14, APA at 20:16 and Area One at 20:21. The last two services have a footnote allowing longer time for the Hokkaido Hotel stop.

The station-bound and hotel-loop operators publish different final times. Do not assume you can wait until 19:35: go to the bus area after collecting your bags and confirm the service with the driver. New operator notices take priority.

Tokachi Bus adjusts departures for flight delays; Takushoku checks the connecting flight and baggage-claim progress. Canceled flights or planned suspensions can also cancel the bus. This is not a guarantee of unlimited waiting, a seat for every passenger or a connection to the hot springs. Contact the operator and hotel if delayed.

The final onsen bus leaves the station at 18:11 and reaches the hotel area at 18:39. The last airport bus cannot connect with it. The airport’s taxi information gives approximate per-vehicle estimates of JPY 8,000/35 minutes for the station area and JPY 9,000/40 minutes for the hot springs. Confirm your hotel entrance, luggage, surcharges and quote with the dispatcher. The listed reservation contacts are 0155-64-5011 and 0155-33-8844.

The official flat-rate taxi scheme requires advance phone booking, covers ordinary cars with up to four passengers and operates 06:00–22:00. Separate winter fares apply December 10–March 26. Going outside the designated zone or changing the destination may switch to metered fares; tolls and parking are extra. Ask about onsen fares separately from the city-area table. A taxi waiting at the stand does not automatically qualify for a flat rate. Confirm availability and delay, change and cancellation terms when booking.

Plan the last walk carefully in winter

The route 45 transfer is a short walk within the north bus terminal, but allow time at the guest-ticket counter and for the next bus. South-side hotels require crossing through the station, while Hokkaido Hotel and the onsen properties have separate approaches.

Save your hotel address and entrance location. Ask about open entrances, crossings and cleared paths; a straight-line map distance is not a reliable suitcase-walking time on snow. If the final walk is difficult, confirm a taxi from the stop to the hotel.

For heavy snow or restrictions, check Tokachi Bus, Takushoku and Hokkaido Development Bureau road updates separately. For onward rail travel, use JR Hokkaido service updates.

Official tickets and reservations

The hotel-loop QR ticket is valid from airport stop 1 to the purchased city-hotel, Kino or Otofuke stop, not to Tokachigawa Onsen. Check the selected stop and date against the sales period through October 24, 2026. Pay by credit card and show the emailed QR code to the driver; no paper exchange is needed. It does not reserve a seat and cannot be used on the Tokachi Bus service connecting with JAL573.

The product FAQ says no separate contact is needed to change the use date, but the new date must still be within the sales period and have an operating service. The cancellation terms charge JPY 100 from booking through the departure day, and 100% after departure. Cancellation inquiries: 0155-31-8811, 07:00–19:00.

These are official operator links, not affiliate offers. If you also buy a rail pass, check its conditions separately; do not assume it covers airport buses.

Obihiro Airport transfers: FAQ

How do I get from Obihiro Airport to Obihiro Station?

The station-bound Tokachi Bus reaches the north bus terminal in about 38 minutes for JPY 1,000 adult one-way. The hotel loop uses different stops, including Nikko Northland/Comfort south of the station and APA north of it. Choose the route using your hotel’s address and the actual stop location.

Do I need to reserve the airport bus?

No. Station-bound and hotel-loop buses board first come, first served, and a full bus may not accept you. An official web ticket does not guarantee a seat. Takushoku QR tickets cannot be used on Tokachi Bus vehicles.

Can I get off near my hotel?

The hotel loop serves designated hotel stops. The station-bound service uses the north terminal, west exit and Toyoko Inn/Super Hotel stop. Not every bus calls at every hotel, so check the departure’s stop list and the remaining walk.

Is there a direct bus to Tokachigawa Onsen?

Do not rely on one during the published suspension. The Cheongju-flight connection is suspended August 31–October 24, 2026, and the Incheon connection is suspended until further notice. As reviewed October 5, 2026, use an airport bus plus route 45 at Obihiro Station, or confirm a direct taxi. Only an official notice can establish a restart.

Is there a railway station at the airport?

No. Take an airport bus or taxi to Obihiro Station for JR trains. The station-to-Tokachigawa Onsen connection is route 45, a bus rather than a JR train.

Will the airport bus wait for a delayed flight?

Tokachi Bus adjusts departures for flight delays; Takushoku checks the connecting flight and baggage-claim progress. Neither policy guarantees unlimited waiting, boarding for every passenger or an onward hot-spring connection. Contact the operator and hotel if your flight is delayed.

How do I reach the hot springs after the last bus or in winter?

The last route 45 bus leaves Obihiro Station at 18:11 on both weekday and weekend timetables. Late airport buses do not connect with it. Confirm a taxi from the airport or station to your hotel. In snow, ask the hotel about the entrance and cleared approach rather than estimating a suitcase walk from the map’s straight-line distance.
