Admission

Individual admission to the permanent exhibition is ¥1,000 for adults, ¥800 for high school and university students, and ¥500 for elementary and junior high school students and visitors age 70 or older. Preschool children enter free, but check reservation and application requirements. Special exhibitions and the outdoor dinosaur museum cost extra.

How to get to Fukui Prefectural Dinosaur Museum

From Fukui Station, take a Katsuyama-bound train on Echizen Railway's Katsuyama Eiheiji Line. Get off at the Katsuyama terminus and transfer to a museum-bound bus. The train ride takes about one hour and the bus about 15 minutes; waiting and transfer time are extra. In the April 1, 2026 bus timetable, the D-line runs on museum opening days. The C-line has different operating conditions and stop sequences, so check the route you intend to take. Adult one-way train fare from Fukui to Katsuyama is ¥820. The Katsuyama–museum bus is ¥300 one way for adults and ¥200 for children.

Closures and extended summer hours

The museum closes on the second and fourth Wednesday of each month, or the next day if Wednesday is a public holiday. It is listed as open throughout the summer vacation period. Check your visit date's calendar for the December 31–January 1 closure and temporary closures for exhibit changes or maintenance. Extended summer hours in 2026 ran from July 18 through August 16: 8:30 a.m.–6:00 p.m., with last entry at 5:30 p.m.
