Kakusenkei’s riverside path runs from Korogi Bridge to Kurotani Bridge. Look out over the gorge from the bridges, then explore the riverbank. Below Ayatori Bridge, the Kawadoko tea seating area offers a place to rest over tea.

Admission
In 2026, Kawadoko tea seating costs ¥700 for adults and ¥600 for elementary-school children, including Kaga roasted tea. The dessert set costs ¥1,000 for adults and ¥900 for elementary-school children. For a discount offered to guests of participating inns, first confirm the eligible inn and required proof. These are charges for Kawadoko tea seating, rather than admission to the full riverside trail, and are separate from the riverside-walk itinerary’s cost subtotal.
Opening hours
Kawadoko’s 2026 hours are 9:30 a.m.–4:00 p.m. from April 1 through October 31, with last orders at 3:45 p.m. From November 1–30, hours are 10:00 a.m.–3:00 p.m., with last orders at 2:45 p.m. These hours apply to the Kawadoko tea seating area, rather than the entire riverside trail.

Follow the bridges and riverbank
The path from Korogi Bridge to Kurotani Bridge is about 1.3 km long. You can enjoy gorge views from a bridge or walk a nearby section of riverbank and return to your inn.
How to get to Kakusenkei Gorge · 鶴仙渓
Kawadoko is below Ayatori Bridge, about 850 m from Yamanaka Onsen Bus Terminal. The official tourism guide gives a walk of about 15 minutes.

The inn’s nearby-sightseeing guide gives walks of about seven minutes from Ohanami Kyubei to Korogi Bridge and about 20 minutes to Kawadoko. You can walk a nearby riverbank section from the bridge and return the same way. If you continue to Ayatori Bridge or start at another inn, check your route and walking time separately. The riverside walks in the four-day, three-night and five-day, four-night itineraries with two hot-spring nights do not cover the full approximately 1.3 km trail. Allow extra walking time if you want to visit Kawadoko or reach the far end of the trail.

Visit tips
Kawadoko closes seasonally and in bad weather
Kawadoko is closed from December through March and has irregular closing days in November. Service stops during rain or high river levels. Seats cannot be reserved, so check the operating notice for your visit date if you want a tea break.
Check steps and access notices along the river
Some sections of the path have steps. Follow posted access notices and walk only as far as your group can comfortably manage. If you continue to another bridge, plan your return route too.

Kawadoko maintenance closures in 2026
The 2026 operating notice lists maintenance closures on June 9–11 and September 8–10. These dates apply to the Kawadoko tea seating area, rather than the entire walking trail.
