What to see at Amanohashidate
Coastal views among the pines
A pine path follows the sandbar. Walk among the trees for close-up coastal views, or explore only part of the path and return the same way.
How to get to Amanohashidate
From Kyoto Tango Railway's Amanohashidate Station, walk about five minutes to the sandbar entrance. Crossing the entire sandbar takes about 50 minutes one way, separate from the station-to-entrance walk. The four- and five-day courses using Monju hotels on the south side walk only the southern section and return the same way.
Visit tips
Allow return time if you cross the whole sandbar
The full sandbar crossing takes about 50 minutes one way. Allow return time too if you plan to reach the far side. For a boat return, check visit-date services, fares, and boarding points separately.
Distinguish walking access from boat restrictions at Daitenkyo Bridge
The September 2026 Daitenkyo notice concerns restrictions on boats passing beneath the bridge and states that walking is unaffected. Check construction and access information again in official notices and on site for your visit date.
