Beppu Ropeway takes you up Mount Tsurumi for mountain views. Enjoy the scenery and walk at an easy pace near the summit.
The ride from the lower Beppu Kogen Station to the upper Tsurumi Sanjo Station takes about 10 minutes each way. After your walk, take the ropeway back down.

How to get to Beppu Ropeway · 別府ロープウェイ
Take a Yufuin-direction route 36 from Beppu Station west-side stop 1 to Beppu Ropeway stop. The walk from the stop to the facility is about one minute. Board at the lower Beppu Kogen Station to reach the upper Tsurumi Sanjo Station. Adult bus fare is ¥500 each way, or ¥1,000 round trip; buy the ropeway ticket separately. Services marked 不 in the bus timetable skip the ropeway, so check both outbound and return services.

Final ascent and descent times vary by season. Some route 36 services you might take after descending skip the ropeway stop. Choose a return bus from the timetable's stop markings, then descend in time for it. Ropeway tickets and bus fares are separate.
