Admission
Individual admission costs ¥2,000 for high school students and older and ¥1,000 for elementary and junior high school students; preschool children enter free. Kagoshima resident fares require eligibility checks, so distinguish them from ordinary traveler prices.
Opening hours
The aquarium opens 9:30 a.m.–6:00 p.m., with last admission at 5:00 p.m.

How to get to Kagoshima City Aquarium · いおワールドかごしま水族館
From Kagoshima-Chuo Station, take tram Route 2 and get off at Suizokukanguchi. Walk about 8 minutes from the stop to the aquarium. For the return, take Route 2 toward Kagoshima-Chuo Station. Allow for the walk from the stop when planning around the admission cutoff.
Visit tips
Visiting after returning from Sakurajima
Last aquarium admission is 5:00 p.m. Plan your arrival with ferry waiting, boarding, disembarking, and the walk from the ferry included. For an unhurried visit, consider a different day from island sightseeing.

December closure and extended opening days
The aquarium has a regular four-day closure starting on the first Monday in December. Some periods have extended evening aquarium hours; check your visit date’s notice if you want to use them.

Can I visit the aquarium on the same day as Sakurajima?
Yes. The aquarium is near the Sakurajima Ferry pier, so you can visit before or after island sightseeing. Coordinate the island bus and ferry back with the 5:00 p.m. admission cutoff. If too little visiting time remains, use separate days.
