With four nights in Kagoshima, should you stay in Ibusuki or Kirishima?

For rest in Ibusuki after sand bathing, choose two city nights, one Ibusuki night, and one final city night. For the shrine and mountain park on separate days, compare one city night, two Kirishima nights, and one final city night. Both return to the city on day four for the last night. Include day-five sightseeing only if your booked departure leaves enough time.

Stay in Ibusuki, Then Return for City Sightseeing

Divide the stay into two city nights, one Ibusuki night, and one final city night. Choose this option to rest in Ibusuki after sand bathing rather than immediately returning by JR. Visit the aquarium on the return day and Shiroyama on the final day.

Day 1

  1. Kagoshima-Chuo Station → Visit Sengan-en

From East stop 4 in the station’s east bus terminal, take the daytime City View bus to Sengan-en. This loop goes through Shiroyama first. Follow the operator’s entrance guidance and visit the garden, residence, and Shoko Shuseikan Museum. Add museum and transit time to the suggested 90-minute garden-and-residence route.
