Admission
Individual admission costs JPY 2,000 for senior high school age and older or JPY 1,000 for primary and junior high school students; preschool children are free. Kagoshima resident rates require eligibility, so distinguish them from ordinary traveller prices.

The aquarium opens 09:30–18:00, with admission until 17:00.

How to get to Kagoshima City Aquarium
Take route 2 tram from Kagoshima-Chuo Station and get off at Suizokukan-guchi. The aquarium is about 8 minutes' walk away. Return on route 2 towards Kagoshima-Chuo Station. Include the walk from the stop when timing last admission.
Before you visit
Visiting after returning from Sakurajima
Aquarium admission is until 17:00. Plan arrival around ferry queues, boarding, disembarking and the walk from Sakurajima's return ferry. For an unhurried visit, consider a different day from island sightseeing.

December closures and extended-opening dates
Regular closure lasts four days from the first Monday in December. Some periods have extended night-aquarium hours; check your date's notice if using them.

Can you visit the aquarium on the same day as Sakurajima?
Yes. The aquarium is near the Sakurajima ferry pier, so it can be visited before or after the island. Coordinate the return island bus and ferry with last admission at 17:00. If sightseeing time is short, use separate days.
