Admission
For high school students and older, shrine admission is ¥700, museum admission ¥600, and the combined ticket ¥1,200. For elementary and junior high school students, shrine and museum tickets are ¥300 each, or ¥500 combined. Pay the ropeway fare separately.

Opening hours
Worship hours are 9 a.m.–5 p.m., with admission requests accepted until 4:50 p.m. The shrine is listed as open year-round. Also check the relevant information for museum visits and special events.

How to get to Kunozan Toshogu Shrine · 久能山東照宮
Board Nihondaira Ropeway at Nihondaira Station and get off at Kunozan Station. The one-way ride takes about five minutes. Then climb about 80 steps to the shrine buildings. On the return, descend to Kunozan Station for the ropeway. The basic timetable gives a first departure from Nihondaira at 9:10 a.m. and final return departure from Kunozan at 5 p.m. Choose both services using your date’s operating notices.

Steps remain after the ropeway ride
About 80 steps lead from Kunozan Station to the shrine buildings. The roughly five-minute ropeway ride excludes ticketing, waiting, and walking up the steps. After visiting, you also need to descend the steps back to Kunozan Station.

Scheduled ropeway suspension: December 1–21, 2026
Nihondaira Ropeway is scheduled to suspend service for equipment work December 1–21, 2026. During this period, you cannot reach the shrine from Nihondaira by ropeway. If your dates overlap, check the operator’s notice.

Does a shrine ticket include the museum and ropeway?
The shrine ticket excludes the museum and ropeway. To see the museum too, buy a separate museum ticket or a combined shrine-and-museum ticket. Ropeway fares are separate.
