Udatsu Townscape · 脇町うだつの町並み
For a relaxed walk among historic houses, visit Wakimachi's Udatsu Townscape. The walls between neighboring houses, called udatsu, helped prevent fires from spreading. You can also tour the interior of Yoshida Residence.

Admission
No shared admission fee is listed for the townscape. Entry to Yoshida Residence costs ¥510 for adults and ¥250 for children, separate from a walk along the street.
Opening hours
No single set of visiting hours applies to the whole street; individual shops have different hours. Ai Land Udatsu operates 9:00 a.m.–5:30 p.m. Yoshida Residence is open 9:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m., with last entry at 4:30 p.m.

Look for the udatsu between houses
As you walk, look for the raised udatsu walls beside the rooftops. These barriers helped stop fire spreading to the next house and are a distinctive feature of the historic buildings.
How to get to Udatsu Townscape · 脇町うだつの町並み
If driving, use the passenger-car parking lot at Ai Land Udatsu. Official tourism guidance lists about one hour and five minutes from Tokushima city or seven minutes from Wakimachi Interchange. After parking, walk toward Yoshida Residence to reach the historic street. The lot has space for 39 standard cars and is separate from the tour-bus lot. Ask the facility about parking fees.

The street and the house interior have different arrangements
To tour Yoshida Residence, arrive before last entry at 4:30 p.m. Shops and visitor facilities along the street have their own opening hours.

Year-end facility closures
Ai Land Udatsu and Yoshida Residence close December 27–January 1. These dates apply to the two facilities; they do not mean the entire street closes.
