Admission
General admission inside the fence is ¥700 for adults. This is separate from free worship in the grounds. Peony garden admission, prayer services, and amulets cost extra.
Opening hours
Free worship begins at 9:00 AM and ends at 4:30 PM from October through February or 5:30 PM from March through September. Paid viewing inside the fence begins at 9:30 AM and ends at 4:00 PM from October through February or 5:00 PM from March through September. Seasons, weather, events, and temporary closure notices may change these hours.

How to get to Ueno Toshogu
Leave JR Ueno Station through the Park Exit. Ueno Toshogu, inside the park, is about a 10-minute walk away.

Paid viewing ends before free worship
Free worship starts at 9:00 AM, while paid viewing inside the fence starts at 9:30 AM. Paid viewing ends at 4:00 PM from October through February and 5:00 PM from March through September. Free worship continues until 4:30 PM and 5:30 PM respectively, so arrive earlier to visit the fenced area.
If you also want to see the peony garden
The peony garden is separate from viewing inside the fence. Check whether it is open on your date and its admission price. Prayer services and amulets are also excluded from general admission.

Can I enter Toshogu's buildings with paid admission?
The building interiors are closed to visitors. Paid admission lets you see the buildings' exteriors and fence from within the fenced area. The peony garden is separate.
