A Temple Day Trip or More Time in Hakone?

Keep your hotel in Yokohama for harbor exhibits and Kamakura’s temples, or spend two nights in Yumoto for Hakone’s history exhibits and outdoor art museum. The Yumoto itinerary visits the museum and Gora on day two before returning to the same hotel. On the final day, you travel down through Odawara, so choose an itinerary that moves to the city the previous day if your flight is early.

Frequently asked questions

Can I still sightsee on the last day after two nights in Yumoto?

If airport travel allows enough time, take a short walk along Yumoto’s river. The local history museum, Open-Air Museum, and Gora are scheduled for the first two days; the final day continues through Odawara to the airport. Skip the walk if your hotel stop, transfers, and airport procedures leave too little time. For a morning flight, you need a different plan that comes down from the mountains and spends the final night somewhere with easier airport access.

Does visiting Gora after the museum cost the same as a Yumoto–museum round trip?

The route via Gora costs ¥460 from Yumoto to Chokoku-no-Mori, ¥160 from Chokoku-no-Mori to Gora, and ¥460 from Gora to Yumoto, totaling ¥1,080 in rail fares. Add the ¥2,000 same-day museum ticket for a daily subtotal of ¥3,080. This differs from the ¥920 Yumoto–Chokoku-no-Mori round trip without Gora. Meals, lodging, and travel to your hotel are extra.
