Where Should You Stay in Kanagawa?
Choose Yokohama for harbor sights and meals, or Kamakura and Fujisawa for temples and Enoshima. For a night in Hakone and a museum visit, compare hotels in Yumoto and Gora. Gora requires a mountain railway ride farther up from Yumoto. If your flight home is early, decide whether to spend your final night in Hakone or move closer to the airport first.
Yokohama and Kamakura are separate cities in Kanagawa Prefecture. Enoshima is in Fujisawa, and Hakone is in Hakone Town. If you visit all four areas, compare itineraries that change hotels.
Harbor, Garden, Temples, Island, or Art Museum?
Compare Yokohama for the ship and harbor exhibits, Hasedera and Kotoku-in for temple visits, or Enoshima for island views. Choose Sankeien for a garden or Hakone Open-Air Museum for sculptures in the mountains. Each attraction uses different stations and routes, so start with fares, admission cutoffs, and walking access.
Itineraries by trip length
Compare staying in Yokohama for the harbor and day trips to nearby cities with moving your hotel to Fujisawa or Hakone. Each itinerary sets out the transfers, walks, visits, and return route for each sightseeing day.

A focuses on Yokohama’s harbor and garden; B gives a day each to Kamakura’s temples and Enoshima.
3 days, 2 nights
A keeps your hotel in Yokohama for separate harbor and temple days; B spends two nights in Yumoto for history exhibits and the art museum.
4 days, 3 nights

5 days, 4 nights
A spends one night in Hakone and the final night in Yokohama; B spends three nights in Fujisawa.
Where should you stay for convenient travel?
Yokohama Station
Choose this base for trains to other cities or a Kamakura day trip.
For harbor attractions, check your destination station separately. Minatomirai and Motomachi-Chukagai are Minatomirai Line stations distinct from Yokohama Station.
Sakuragicho and Minatomirai
Compare accommodation around Sakuragicho and Minatomirai if many of your days involve Nippon Maru and harbor walks.
JR Sakuragicho and Minatomirai Line stations are separate. Check the walk from your hotel address to your station, and plan the return after dinner using that same station.
Kamakura and Fujisawa
Choose this base for Kamakura temples and coastal trips by Enoden.
Compare Kamakura for temple-focused visits, or Fujisawa to board at Enoden’s western terminus or connect to other railways.

The adult day ticket costs ¥800 and is valid only on its sale date. Round-trip fares are ¥400 Kamakura–Hase, ¥520 Kamakura–Enoshima, ¥620 Fujisawa–Hase, and ¥440 Fujisawa–Enoshima. One day ticket cannot cover round trips on two dates. Decide whether you will make only the listed round trip or get off at other stations too, then compare tickets by date. JR, Keikyu, the Hakone mountain railway, and attraction admission are not included in the Enoden day ticket.
Compare Hakone Freepass by starting station and actual journeys
Adult 2-day passes cost ¥7,100 from Shinjuku or ¥6,000 from Odawara. The pass covers designated Hakone transportation, with one round trip between your Odakyu starting station and Odawara. JR Yokohama–Odawara, airport trains, Romancecar limited express charges, and Open-Air Museum admission are separate. This itinerary does not include the lake or ropeway. Two-night itinerary B’s ordinary rail fares for the Odawara round trip and Yumoto → museum → Gora → Yumoto total ¥1,800, below the ¥6,000 Odawara pass. Compare ordinary tickets if using only the listed rail sections. If adding a hotel bus journey, check both whether it is covered and its actual fare.

Coordinate Your Hakone Stay and Flight Home
On day one, travel from the airport to your base station, then choose sightseeing to fit your arrival. Hotel dinner deadlines, bathing hours, shuttles, and luggage storage follow your booking conditions; check them before choosing an itinerary. On departure day, allow separate time for luggage collection, station access, train waits, transfers and boarding, airport terminal travel, and check-in. From Hakone, you also need time to descend to Odawara. For a morning flight, move the previous day to a city with airport access and skip final-day sightseeing. The itineraries suggest a visiting order; set actual departure times around travel-date services and booking conditions.
Coordinate Your Hakone Stay and Flight Home →Admission and Transportation Included in the Subtotals
The basis is one adult, a same-day Open-Air Museum ticket, and individual Enoden rides. On days using both the Enoshima tower and Escar, the subtotal includes the ¥1,100 daytime set ticket. On event days, the itinerary leaves the garden before 5:00 p.m.; evening garden charges are separate. JR, the Minatomirai Line, airport travel, station-to-hotel transportation, meals, accommodation, separate hot spring bathing, the Great Buddha interior, and extra activities fall outside the subtotal. Itineraries visiting Nippon Maru and the Port Museum on different days count separate tickets of ¥400 and ¥500. The ¥800 same-day combined ticket cannot be split across two dates. JR between Fujisawa and Tsujido is also separate from free admission to the ukiyo-e museum. These prices were checked October 8, 2026.

The Noriorikun day ticket costs ¥800 for adults and ¥400 for children and covers all Enoden lines on its issue date. In one-night itinerary B, Kamakura–Hase round trip at ¥400 plus the next day’s Kamakura–Enoshima round trip at ¥520 totals ¥920. This is ¥680 less than ¥1,600 for a day ticket on each of the two days. Adult one-way fares are ¥200 Kamakura–Hase, ¥310 Fujisawa–Hase, and ¥220 Fujisawa–Enoshima; round trips are ¥400, ¥620, and ¥440 respectively. Kanagawa Prefecture · 神奈川県
Choose Yokohama for harbor sights and the ship, Kamakura for temples and the Great Buddha, or Enoshima for island sea views. Adding Hakone’s museum and a hot-spring hotel requires separate time for the railway journey into the mountains. Your return route also depends on whether you keep your hotel in Yokohama or move to Hakone.
Sakuragicho · 桜木町: Harbor Ship and Exhibits
Nippon Maru and the port museum are within walking distance of Sakuragicho Station. Choose Nippon Maru to explore inside the ship, or the museum for harbor history exhibits. A combined ticket for both on the same day differs from separate tickets used on different days. If you arrive late, choose a waterfront walk or meal instead of rushing for the indoor admission cutoff.

Sankeien: A Garden Walk on a Separate Day From the Harbor
Give Sankeien a separate half day for its garden and historic buildings. Take a bus from Yokohama Station’s east exit, then walk from the bus stop to the main gate. It is not beside the harbor waterfront, so you do not need to fit it and the ship into a short arrival day. Allow for the round-trip bus rides and walks before returning to Yokohama.
Hase · 長谷: Walk Between Two Temples
Take Enoden from Kamakura or Fujisawa to Hase Station, then walk between Hasedera and Kotoku-in. Pay admission separately at each temple; Hasedera includes stairs. After seeing the Great Buddha, eat around Hase Station and return. Adding sightseeing in Hakone’s mountains that day would leave less time at the temples.

Enoshima · 江の島: Island Views and the Daytime Garden
Give Enoshima a separate day from the temples for sea views and island walks. From Enoden Enoshima Station, cross the bridge, pass through Nakamise Street, and continue up the island’s slopes to Sea Candle. Escar runs uphill only, so leave time to walk down. The daytime garden is free, the tower charges admission, and event-day evening garden fees are separate.
Tsujido · 辻堂: Free Ukiyo-e Exhibits
For prints depicting Fujisawa and Enoshima, visit the ukiyo-e gallery in Tsujido. Walk about 5 minutes from JR Tsujido Station’s north exit to the 7th floor of COCOTERRACE Shonan. Exhibition admission is free, but JR fares between Fujisawa and Tsujido are extra. This indoor visit differs from temples and island views; you can give it a separate arrival-day slot as in the four-night B itinerary.

Hakone-Yumoto · 箱根湯本: Hot-Spring Stay and Museum Visits
Use Yumoto as your base to relax at a hot-spring hotel and see history exhibits and outdoor sculptures. Visiting the local history museum and art museum on separate days leaves time for both sightseeing and rest at your hotel. The museum and Gora require the mountain railway farther up from Yumoto. Compare two nights in Yumoto in the two-night B itinerary with one night followed by a return to Yokohama before flying home in the four-night A itinerary. For a morning flight, come down from the mountains the previous day and spend your final night somewhere with easier airport access.

Frequently asked questions
Should I visit Kamakura temples and the Hakone museum on the same day?
For unhurried visits, give them separate days. In Kamakura, walk between Hasedera and the Great Buddha. In Hakone, take the mountain railway farther up from Yumoto to the museum. Combining them in one day leaves less visiting time because of travel between the areas.
