Where should you stay in Kanagawa?

Choose Yokohama for harbour visits and meals, or Kamakura and Fujisawa for temples and Enoshima. For a Hakone overnight break and museum visit, compare Yumoto and Gora accommodation. Gora requires a further mountain railway journey from Yumoto. For an early flight home, decide whether to spend the final night in Hakone or move towards the airport first.

Yokohama and Kamakura are separate Kanagawa cities. Enoshima is in Fujisawa, and Hakone is a town in its own right. For all four areas, compare itineraries that include a change of accommodation.

Harbour, gardens, temples, island or museum?

Compare Yokohama for ship and harbour exhibits, Hasedera and Kotoku-in for worship, or Enoshima for island views. Sankeien offers garden walks; Hakone's Open-Air Museum has outdoor sculptures in the mountains. Each uses different stations and journeys, so check prices, admission deadlines and walks first.

Calculate Enoden journeys separately for each day

The adult day pass costs JPY 800 and is valid only on the issue date. Returns cost JPY 400 Kamakura–Hase, JPY 520 Kamakura–Enoshima, JPY 620 Fujisawa–Hase and JPY 440 Fujisawa–Enoshima. One day pass cannot cover return trips on two dates. Decide whether to make only those journeys or stop elsewhere, then compare day by day. JR, Keikyu, Hakone Tozan and attraction admission are excluded.

Compare Hakone Freepass using your departure station and actual routes

Adult two-day passes cost JPY 7,100 from Shinjuku or JPY 6,000 from Odawara. They cover designated Hakone transport and one return journey between the Odakyu departure station and Odawara. JR Yokohama–Odawara, airport trains, Romancecar supplements and Open-Air Museum admission are separate. This itinerary excludes the lake and ropeways. Three-day B's ordinary Odawara return and Yumoto → museum → Gora → Yumoto rail fares total JPY 1,800, less than the JPY 6,000 Odawara pass. Compare ordinary tickets if using only the stated railway legs. If adding a hotel bus, check its actual fare and whether that route is covered.

Plan Hakone accommodation around your flight home

On arrival, travel from the airport to your base station, then choose sightseeing according to arrival time. Hotel dinner deadlines, bathing hours, shuttles and luggage storage follow booking conditions; confirm them before choosing an itinerary. On departure, allow separate time for luggage collection, reaching the station, waits, transfers, trains and airport terminal travel and check-in. From Hakone, you also need to travel down to Odawara. For a morning flight, move to a city with airport access the previous day and skip final-day sightseeing. Itineraries suggest a visit order; choose actual departures using your date's services and bookings.

Admission and transport included in itinerary subtotals

These use one adult, Open-Air Museum same-day admission and individual Enoden fares. On days combining Enoshima's tower and Escar, the JPY 1,100 daytime ticket is included. Leave the garden before 5 pm on event days; night garden fees cost extra. Subtotals exclude JR, Minatomirai Line, airport and hotel travel, meals, accommodation, separate bathing, the Great Buddha interior and extra activities. Itineraries visiting Nippon Maru and the Port Museum on different days use JPY 400 and JPY 500 separate tickets; the JPY 800 same-day ticket cannot be split across dates. Fujisawa–Tsujido JR fares are separate from the free ukiyo-e museum. Prices were checked on 8 October 2026.

Compare Enoden tickets for each visit date

Noriorikun day passes cost JPY 800 for adults and JPY 400 for children, covering all Enoden lines on the issue date. Two-day B's Kamakura–Hase return JPY 400 and next-day Kamakura–Enoshima return JPY 520 total JPY 920. That is JPY 680 less than buying a day pass for each day, totalling JPY 1,600. Ordinary adult single fares are JPY 200 Kamakura–Hase, JPY 310 Fujisawa–Hase and JPY 220 Fujisawa–Enoshima; returns are JPY 400, JPY 620 and JPY 440. Places to group into separate days in Kanagawa

Kanagawa Prefecture · 神奈川県

Choose Yokohama for the harbour and ship, Kamakura for temples and the Great Buddha, or Enoshima for island sea views. Adding Hakone's museum and hot-spring accommodation requires separate time to reach the mountains by rail. Return routes also depend on staying in Yokohama throughout or moving to Hakone.

Sakuragicho · 桜木町: harbour ship and exhibits

Nippon Maru and the Port Museum are within walking distance of Sakuragicho. Choose the ship for its interior or the museum for harbour history. A same-day combined ticket differs from individual tickets used on separate dates. If arriving late, choose a waterfront walk or meal instead of rushing to last admission.

Sankeien: a garden walk on a separate harbour day

Give Sankeien a separate half-day for its garden and historic buildings. Take a bus from Yokohama's east exit, then walk from the stop to the main entrance. It is not beside the harbour waterfront, so you need not combine it with the ship on a short arrival day. Allow return bus and walking time to Yokohama.

Hase · 長谷: walk between two temples

Take Enoden from Kamakura or Fujisawa to Hase and walk between Hasedera and Kotoku-in. Each temple charges admission separately, and Hasedera has stairs. After the Great Buddha, eat near Hase Station and return. Adding Hakone's mountain sights on the same day reduces temple time.

Enoshima · 江の島: island views and daytime garden

Give Enoshima its own day for sea views and walking, separately from the temples. From Enoden Enoshima, cross the bridge and continue through Nakamise Street and island slopes to Sea Candle. Escar travels uphill only, so allow time to walk down. The daytime garden is free, but the tower is paid; event-night garden charges are separate.

Hakone-Yumoto · 箱根湯本: hot-spring stays and the museum

Use Yumoto as a base for hot-spring accommodation, history exhibits and outdoor sculpture. Separate museum days leave time for visits and rest at your hotel. The Open-Air Museum and Gora require further mountain railway travel. Compare two Yumoto nights in three-day B with one night followed by a return to Yokohama before departure in five-day A. For a morning flight, travel down from the mountains the previous day and spend the final night somewhere with easier airport access.

Frequently asked questions

Can I see Kamakura temples and the Hakone museum in one day?

For time to enjoy both, give each area its own day. Walk between Hasedera and the Great Buddha in Kamakura; in Hakone, travel further uphill by mountain railway from Yumoto to the museum. Combining them in one day reduces visiting time because of travel between the areas.
